The mithril spur plans are worth ~200g to a leveling Blacksmith but the drop rate seems too low to justify paying 20g for a small chance... well given that everything is overpriced at AH those days, maybe that too... or maybe it's just people wanting to do that quest

That makes the most sense, sure its only .8 percent but even if you pay 20g you will likely get back 15g or more in items anyway so actual final cost is low. And if you buy 20 maps at one time you only need go there once.
Right now the spurs are 20g each on my sever.
Think Ill start saving up the maps and do the quest myself (I did it once but didnt really see what the deal was).

From the wowhead comments it looks like its now a repeatable quest, but I'm pretty sure that when I did it the last time (a loooooooooong time ago) it was not, and it gave xp. So I'd guess people don't know that there is no more xp for the quest (like me) and thus buy the maps
