Default Getting owned by the Colossus in H Gundrak

I know, I'm a huge noob and I shouldn't be having any trouble with this guy, but he is just completely owning me. I run a mixed group, using my priest as a dedicated healer. I set them up in a star just like Hachoo does in his video but when the elemental comes out he just wipes my group while I'm trying to heal through it and DPS. Some times he goes straight to the priest and then its over in like 10 seconds. Any tips from anyone who does this with a mixed group? Maybe I'm just a terrible player.

Just went through the learning curve on this one myself.

    Tips.

Most important. Stop DPS on transformations. Get Pally to spot where elemental is emerging and you'll usually pick up aggro right away. That said, be ready to use an avenger's shield, etc. to get aggro. This is a controlled fight so go slow. Once you have aggro on your pally, resume DPS.

Save trinkets, bloodlust, fire elemental, etc. until last elemental phase. This also saves you from blowing them early, wiping, and not having them for your next attempt.

Have four support toons all with strafe left/right mapped to the same key. When the mojo crap is on them just move them 5 yards.

I'm assuming your priest is holy. If so, don't be afraid to use prayer of mending, circle of healing, etc. I'd also map a /use runic healing potion macro for all four support toons in case you need it.

In summary, just take it slow on the transitions to firmly get aggro on tank and this is a pretty easy encounter.

Thanks for that tip. I've never seem to been able to pickup aggro on the elemental so I'll have to work on that.

First i would say that you gem to much defence on your tank, 570 defence is a total waste, you could change atleast one of thoose defence gems to stamina or avoidance for better benefits.

Im not a priest expert but you should consider to respec holy for better healing! PoM,circle of healing and prayer of healing is the key to survive the elemental phase.

However the key to win this encounter is nature resistance totem and if you had taken a look on my movie you can see that im not even moving my slaves in the elemental phase. However i see you suffer from having slaves with very low health and poor spell damage but your tank outgear mine by far when i did this encounter!

But the key is nature resistance totem!

Remember that they both reset aggro when they emerge, i usualy taunt since you cant rely on avengers shield due to the long cooldown.

Dont use fire elementals use EARTH elementals! They are immune against nature damage and wont get splatted by the pukes of ooze he spits out.. Im not sure if they eat it but the earth elementals will certainly take some pressure of your tank!

Definitely stop everything for a sec when changing phases and quickly taunt the boss to the tank. Maybe try to use Earth Elemental, he is very good against the boss elemental. Move out of puddles if need be and prioritize on keeping your toons alive. The boss goes down very fast but don't try to squeeze in too much dps on the cost of healing/moving out of puddles. Getting just one cast off every once in a while is enough as long as you don't die.

NR totem is a must, as everyone has said. Another thing to remember is to re-drop it after the elemental disappears the first time. Don't pull the Colossus with Avenger's Shield. In fact, don't use it at all until the elemental. You can get initial aggro easily that way. For the second phase, when Avenger's Shield is on CD, pop your elemental.

Also, consider one of the nice BoE chest upgrades for your priest. Are you doing Chain Heal on the elemental phase? You may need to. Also, drop moonkin form and perhaps blow a tranquility if needed. Go nice and easy for the colossus, then balance nuking and healing for the elemental. I don't recommend moving to avoid the puddles, if you can help it. During the Colossus phase two are you doing Hymn of Hope? Also try dropping your Water Elemental as soon as phase two elemental starts. You will need the mana gen and the nukage!

Just some things to consider. There is a lot to manage with a mixed group. My Pally + Shaman group eats this guy up. Chain Heal x4 ftw!

I find that this fight goes MUCH better when I dont use bloodlust. At all.

Thanks guys, great stuff here. I took him down pretty easily once I slowed down and took my time on the phases. Woot!

I'd agree prior to the last elemental phase. Why you wouldn't pop BL on that last (fourth) phase is beyond me. If you don't need it because you're overgeared sure. But for someone learning the encounter, I'd pop everything after getting aggro on the last phase. Just burns it down faster.

Once you overgear the encounter enough if you pop bloodlust at the very beginning you can kill each phase before he hardly has a chance to swing at you. I can kill him before BL wears off if I pop it at the beginning of the fight. The 3-4 seconds of aggro using a taunt gives my DK is long enough to move to the next phase lol.
