Default [WoW] 1 Protection Paladin / 4 Elemental Shaman. How do i level?

    Hey guys,

I am wondering how i should level in WotLK. Because 70-80 questing is annoying to: spreadout-> pala rush in-> dead-> next mob same routine.

    Its boring to dungeon 70-80.

Should i quest and play a shaman as main? Or should i play my pala as main?

Or should i level in dungeons? I want the fastest option.

    Thank you in advanced,

For normal questing I would make one of the Shamans the main and keep the paladin in tow as a buffbot .

If you find yourself rested I would suggest doing instances until it wears off and then keep on questing.

I think you've got to ask yourself whether you should even bother levelling.

You say questing is annoying and Instances are boring. That doesn't leave you much room for enjoyment

What are your long term intentions in the game? You are rushing to get to 80, but what are you rushing there for?

At 80 you'll be able to quest, instance, raid or pvp. Will questing and instances become interesting for you at 80 (if so why?)

Level with your pally as main, that way you wont have to adjust between questing and isntancing. Measure the XP you gain questing, compare that to the XP you get whilst running instances. Do the one that yields the most xp per hour. Try not to run out of rested.

Just mix it up however you like to keep it interesting. I do agree with seraphaw. Make one of the shamans the lead for the time being and you dont even need to use your pally. Just have him follow and pick up quest items as needed. With 4 shamans you should be able to handle almost everything including most world elites or group quests. If you can't then use your pally for that quest.

With a prot pally you should NEVER EVER EVER (I can not stress this enough) kill one mob at a time. With 4 earth shocks even casters should not be an issue.

Mount your pally up, park your shaman. Run your pally around gathering up as many mobs as you can, run back to shaman consecrate then drop your fire totem of choice and CL. Rinse repeat. Do this while questing, lots of gold, greens to de/sell, good blues at the end of chains and very good XP. You get tired of doing that, run a dungeon.

I played my pally with my daughter on her boomkin to 80. That is what we did. Our biggest problem was getting enough mobs grouped up to kill with out them running off.

My issues is getting teams from 60-70, I really hate Outlands. And that is with a well geared 80 pally that can solo every Outland dungeon and most of the heroics.

I just find it boring because i've already done it before. I really hate it when it takes so long. I always think: a game should be fun and not annoying. So when im in a time like that im really like: should i play? neh, im lvl 72 i need 8 more levels.

    Thats usually my problem.

Why do you spread out? Just run at everything and insta-gib them. Don't stop to spread out or do anything special, just 4x LB, next mob, 4x LB, next mob, repeat forever. For added bonus, spec your paladin ret or something until you hit 80.

You have to suck it up. No easy way to get to 80, takes a decent amount of time. You're best bet is to do every quest you can and try to find some things you enjoy about them.

The fastest option to ding 80 would just be to go through all the quests. You can get 80 in about 2 weeks of casual play (or less I'm sure), by doing the quests - it just takes a certian type of mentality to keep on pushing through them. As Hachoo stated, don't bother spreading your guys out - just walk up, hit tab, nuke, loot -> repeat until the quest objective(s) are done-> turn in-> get more quests. If you want to mix things up a bit, take some time out and learn some of the dungeons. While trying to maximize my dps on my new team, I've been toying (erm... farming) around in Utgarde Keep with Prince Kelesith, acquiring the Blade of Evocation for my shammis. If you want to make things even more fun, take a look at some of the dungeon drops that you'd like - then go get them . It sure as hell gives you a break from questing, plus you'll probably gain between 200-400k experience per dungeon run (~or up to 20-25% of a level and most dungeons can be completed in about an hour or less). The more experience and knowledge you gain in a dungeon, the easier its going to be when you go to do it in Heroic mode. And besides, if you're like me at all, you will enjoy watching your characters improve as they get better gear - I'm already posting over 1400 dps now at level 71, and I have several ideas about how to improve that!

If you're on a PvP server, you can spend some time working on your killing tactics - try going out and killing some level 80s at 70 - see if you can do it (you'd probably be suprised). I try to do this every day as well, and the only classes I'm having trouble with right now are 80 Holy Paladins (I doubt I'll get any kills on them till I get to around 75+), and some Death Knights. I've been able to kill a single group of level 75-76 players with ease (Starfall, Stun and Shock Spam (SSSS = win)). I've only had my new alliance team on their new server for about 3 weeks now, and they'll ding 72 in about 15 more quests (am hoping for 75 this weekend  ).

    You can do it!

    Cheers.

I found you get about 7% of a level in instances with non-rested exp. From level 71-79. Which makes questing usually a lot faster than instance grinding. You also make a lot more money with quests, increase your faction, and open up all the areas for dailys at 80.
