And also, unless the mage is well geared, this advantage dissapears after SM/Uldaman imo
OT, but chain of thought... I was blasting my lowest level team through Stockades yesterday and managed to die! In the Stockade!! The shame...

My mage has a shade under 9k health, but doing the 3rd (and final) pull of the instance, down the right-hand-side, I screwed up a blink, got unlucky with a never-ending sequence of knockdown stuns and was dead before I could say "ice block"

Dead embarassing, though of course there was nobody around to see it except me!

Hehe, those stuns are a bummer, dw, I died once as well, getting the measure of the place.

And as for SM cath, well the hunter is ok at it, but one tip, don't snake trap the group closest to Mograine.... he doesn't tend to react well to viper bites and tends to call in the buddies. I FDd and survived, but the lowbies didn't come off so well.

Mage now needs to drink after each grp of 6 or 10, but hunter can still pew pew without stopping.

But then again, hunter has epix. Mage has a load of crap gear.

But I'd say up to SM Mage/palla are no doubt the quickest killers (my palla friend can also Aoe the whole of the inside of SM cath, whole wings of Stockades etc). Our record in stocks including looting was 6.5 mins
my mage is pretty good geared but I use pvp gear (12k health) because it is much easier to survive. So I run with ice barrier up and gather stuff, then kill. Now when my toons have grown a little (32 lvl) - they all are healing specced and can outheal whole sm graveyard in one pull

Honestly with the new patch out fastest leveling should occur via questing. I know if you check out joana (for horde) or brian kopps guide (for alliance) they almost stick exclusivly to questing. They have redone their old guide and actually skipped content they previously did because questing gives way more XP now (honestly its in line w/ outlands XP per level).

What i mean by the parenthesis my warrior is gaining % of xp per quest turn in equal to (probably more since 60-61 and after that is a lot more xp per level) what I would gain in the outlands.

Well, those guides are made for people playing by themselves, not for a 5 man group with a 70 on the side like some of us are doing.

I do agree that the guide are awesome for Outlands and late 40-50s, but most of th early quests are focused onto grabbing quest items with medium to low drop rate which sucks for 5 manning. If there were a 1000 targets in front of me that I could kill non stop, it wouldn't be much of a problem, but since at low level a 70 would kill too fast and need to wait for respawn, you end up running around more than actually killing stuff.

So I believe that running instances for the first 40 levels is better than questing IMO, but I think after SM, ZF is ok for a while, but questing gets better after that all the way up to 70. Currently I'm like 30% off behind the guide in Outlands at 63, because I skipped some or most of the item drop quests, I always check to see the % on the drop and the location and number of monsters available before deciding to do them or not, I'd rather run an instances and do some quests in there instend of just running around looking for special targets, or swimming in the water for an hour killing fishs...

I did the same thing, Deadmines 11-20, Stockades 21-30, SM Armory/Cath 31-43, then was so sick of SM that I left. If you are leveling 4 or less toons and have access to a mage/pally who is 70 you can just blow thru Stockades/SM. With a decently geared holy/prot pally you should be able to do 5x Cath and 5x Armory runs an hour, which is just insane amounts of XP.

My 3x mages are almost 53, and have 2d10h /played time.

tho I liked more to do sm graveyard at 27-31 levels. It is really much easier then armory and cathedral. Now I am lvl 33 and doing library, it is pretty weird instane tho because those stupid mobs casters dont want to follow my mage all the way to aoe spot and just run back to their standard position.

Anyways, I've got a question. What is the best level of mobs should be killed, relatively to the level of the player of course? I mean, what would be best - to kill +2 lvl mob, +5 or what? ofc using my lvl 70 main

Unit, i also found the library to be annoying because the resets slowed things down. I just ran it around 5 times for some gear and the key, then switched to Cathedral. With 4x31 and 1x70 the XP per mob in Cathedral was better than in Library anyway.

Someone posted a formula for XP per mob in instances somewhere, I'll try to dig it out.

EDIT: Well its all here : http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Mob_XP But I was a bit blinded with science to be honest. I just zoned out of library a couple of times and killed the 1st 2 mobs in Cath to check myself

i just want to give 1 tip.

once you are going to become level 60, try to get all your chars to BE level 60 before you logout for a day or so.

I didnt do that, 1 char was still 59 and the other 2 where lvl 60, then i logged out in the inn and started playing the next day...

The lvl 60's where rested way longer then the lvl 59 resulting in the lvl 60's getting furthur and furthur away from the 3th one.

This has todo with that the speed you build up your rested XP as a % off your XP needed for that level.
and lvl 59->60 is about 1/3th off the xp needed from lvl 60->61.

So when you are about to ding lvl 60, try to let them all ding at the same night.

with me they lvl 59 was 3 bubbles behind when the others dinged 60. now they are half a level apart, resulting in me letting the ones who are ahead rest outside an inn to get them closer together.
