Default Can't get macro's to work Help please

I've tried all different types of macro's and the only one that works is /target [target=focustarget,harm,nodead][target=party1target,harm,nodead]/cast Lightning Bolt

I would like to be able to work around this when my lead is dead.. I've tried the /assist focus and set up this /cast [target=focustarget, harm] [] SPELL Which I shouldn't need since I use jamba with this macro
    /focus Name
    /jamba setmeasmaster all
    /jamba-follow strobeonme all
    /script SetView(5);SetView(5);
This macro works great. All toons do what they are supposed to Except ... attack

As you can see I don't write the macro's I haven't understood what everything means yet. But working on it.
What I would like to do is have a leaderless macro that way who ever I have as the main with out promoting to lead will get the others to focus her target and attack. If this is not possible is there a way to add a macro with jamba to promote that toon to lead?

I followed the directions for the "new multiboxer" set up. And those macros just don't work. Might be the [] box that shows up with firefox I don't know. But I copy paste the macro's into each toons setup change spell to which one I want. Go out and test and nada.

this one works for my warlocks but again its setting my lead as the only option to use to attack with
    /target [target=focustarget,harm,nodead][target=party1target,harm,nodead] <------------ party 1 target??!!
/castsequence [modifier:shift] Drain Life; Reset=combat/target Immolate, Corruption, Curse of Agony, Drain Life, Drain Life, Drain Life

    I'm confused... ;(

<adding a bit in as I noticed something whilst typing this reply> As far as I know for the /target command it will land on the last valid target on the list, so you're macro should work off the focus target if you change the order to /target [target=party1target,harm,nodead][target=focustarget,harm,nodead]. That being said I still think your better off using a different method so you can free the alts target up for other things.

You seem to be using both focus and target to select which mob you want to attack (as you focus your leading toon and then assist them for targetting). Depending on group set-up this may not be the best method as basically it means you have very limited options when it comes to targetting a different unit (for example to use crowd control on them). Personally I think you're best sticking to casting spells on your focus' target and using the characters actual target for crowd control (e.g. fear).

So, first you need a way to change focus when you change to 'leading' on another character. I'm guessing Jamba does this for you, but I don't have any experience with that addon, so I'm just guessing. If not there should be a macro on the wiki for setting up one macro (which you'll need on all characters) to change the focus if the leader dies.

Your spell macros should then look like the following:

    /cast [target=focustarget,harm,nodead] Lightning Bolt

This way your alts should cast the spell on whatever your focussed character has targetted, without them actually needing to target that unit themselves.
