IMO, HDMI is worth the upgrade if you can go that route. I have an 18" 1920x1080p Acer Monitor attached to my laptop and love it. I also have a 19" 1440x900 Dell monitor connected to my Xbox 360 and I can tell you that there is a big difference. I just had to replace the Micro$oft VGA cable for my 360, so I opted out and grabbed an HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI-D converter from Newegg.com. I lucked out and got the audio cable for the 360 at Game Stop for $10 used. You must have this for audio for the 360 however. Can't get audio thru the HDMI cable on the XBox. All systems are designed that way with the two being separate.

If this is your monitor you're getting: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=ASUS%20VW246H Great choice btw. And this is you're card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...7bc8b2d17690db

Then I suggest grabbing these two while they have them on sale. I just grabbed these Thursday and both came in together Saturday.

My Dell monitor doesn't have the HDMI input, so that's why I got the converter. I got these two instead of the HDMI to DVI cable because I want to be able to use this cable on any other HDMI input or compatible tv/monitor down the road.
