3x mages dps issue

Hi, i am boxing 3x Mages currently at 61. My problem is that though the team leader has more spell power and crit than the slaves it only does around a 1/3 of the damage the other two, which do roughly the same dps :cursing: .
They are all the same/frost specced all same talents so i am a little confused as to why so little dps from the team leader.. could someone shed any light on the matter?

When I 4boxed 3 mages and a priest I noticed this as well. 1/3 might be a bit much but I noticed because my lead was getting hit more often that the interruptions caused would actually make him dps less. Once I started 5 boxing with my pally as lead, my lead mage was getting more dps as he should due to the better gear. I think that has something to do with it. That was the only thing i could account for.

Beside the gear another issue is that when yer casting yer lead starts casting before yeh other chars which guarantee that his spell pretty much always lands where's as any othe ones that lag behind,
when it comes to overkill situations leader spell hit kills the critter the other chars spells dont land which drops there dps.

This is assuming yeh have all the macros the same.

its backwards. his main is laggin in dps not the 2 slaves

If your frost spec your prob spamming frostbolt. The frost build is a crit whore. It could be the difference of lucky crits. If you really want to test run some very long test on the dummies with recount. My 3 frost mages are around the same dps. Sometimes 1 shines more if he gets more crits. They bounce around a lot but are pretty consistant.

Thanks all for the replies. I just answered my own question.. i forgot to update my macro's i was spamming frostbolt rank 5 when i have rank 11 in my book..duh

If you have
/cast Frostbolt rather than /crast frostbolt (rank 5) It will allways cast the highest rank one you have, usefull for not needing to update your macros every few levels.

i remember doing that in rfc... then figured out the trick of not adding the rank. seamless ever since
