Congrats, but with one warning: The PSU does not meet all of the power requirements of the video card.

EVGA specifies a power supply with a minimum of 400w total capacity (you're ok there) but also a 12v supply that can supply up to 26 amps, your PSU's 12v supply has a 16 amp peak. The day of the independent multiple 12v rail has come and gone because of todays high draw video cards.

Check out something like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703016 with a single 12v rail with a 36a capacity. PC Power and Cooling was my psu of choice until last night, when I got a DOA unit for a rig I was building for a friend...

Ewww, don't know how I missed that. Well, hopefully it'll be enough to get me going till I can replace it with something a bit more beefy.

Edit: Odd, I just noticed something ... the PSU was linked to this Video card for a discount. Along with several others that don't fit the apparent recomendations (only in Amps however, everything else meets the recomendations). So ... I'm a little confused now.

    Shoddy marketing imo

They should honor the combo discount and allow you to exchange the incompatible (stress this) product that they recommended (more emphasis), for a similar product that is. I'd call customer service and directly ask for a manager.

Yeah, Newegg's a little unforgiving in the "newb" department. IE you buy a motherboard and ram that don't match, etc they're not going to warn you all these parts don't fit. But ... you would think that parts marketed together at a combo price would actually, I dunno ... be compatible.

Since my current rig is in a similar situation (amps on the psu don't quite match the video card, but everything else does) and it's been running for a year solid, I'm going to wait and see how the new rig fires up. I don't expect to see any real problems, but if there is I'm definitely going to be in contact with them over this. Thankfully, Newegg's always been good to me about RMAs, etc. I've only had a couple of problems over the past 10 or so years I've been doing business with them and everytime it's been resolved quickly. In either case, I think I'll be sending them an email with the info about the apparent compatibility issue with their combo deal.

    Addendum:
Today I got a BIG surprise from the UPS guy, all of the parts finally arrived. So I excitedly tore everything open and got to work. Everything was seated properly (the SSDs took a little work to get securely in place, but the Sytrin KuFormula SHF1 Series HD Coolers worked PERFECTLY for mounting the odd little drives) I get to work hiding wires, etc and unpack the PSU, sadly it doesn't have the right size connectors to the motherboard. So I'm now on the market for a new power supply for this setup. I'm going to hit best buy tomorrow and see if they have anything that will work, if not I'm going to have to hit up Newegg again. So take it as a learning experience, when ordering parts make sure to check everything ... even the full stats on the power supply for compatibility. I'll have pics of everything once it's all up and running.

I was hoping you were going to say that everything went well.

Now's your opportunity to choose a better psu...

When I was building my first machine.. it was sort of a blind build. I didn't know what I needed basically. I kept adding and deleting things over about 2 weeks, and when it came time to order it was a mess. I ended up ordering the wrong graphics card and psu. Thankfully they worked together :P

Since then, always, always, make sure everything is compatable

I'm planning to piece together a new PC this summer, I'm stoked already for it. Kinda jealous of you now!

Do the 30gb SSD's really provide much of a performance boost?
