Default According to this EQ2 GM and his supervisor Keyclone and all related programs are illegal.

I created a ticket to clarify whether or not these programs were legal (keyclone, innerspace, Isbox) and to my surprise this is the response I received.

"Greetings XXXXXXX, this is GM Gaunsky responding to your petition. I understand you wish to know if using a program to run multiple computers with one keyboard is permitted.

I have discussed your question with the CS management and I am afraid that the use of such programs is not allowed, as technically it would be a program controlling one of your machines. The only way to "legally" multibox would be by alt-tabbing between clients or simply playing on two computers with two keyboards, as long as each is controlled without the use of any form of software.

We thank you for question and hope this clarifies the issue. If there is anything else we can assist you with feel free to reply back and let us know.

GM Gaunsky is incorrect. I have posted 2 seperate tickets with SOE and been told both times, Multiboxing via tools like ISBoxer and Keyclone as well as hardware boxing with 1 keyboards to several computers is perfectly acceptable, both in EQ2 specifically and in any other SOE game. The only thing that is not permitted is automation. These programs control NOTHING. There is no automation from keyclone or IS. Nor is there from hardware multiplexing. All that these configurations do is direct the manually input signal to multiple places instead of a single location. You are fully in control of every action made. No action can be made without your direct, physical input.

Both these responses are quoted in my post MB & Current MMOs, including ticket numbers. The GMs I corrosponded with are TSR Dan H. and CSR Xavier "Spadaccino" M. Specifically, the full text of my some of my questions to TSR Dan H. was

    1. Do you allow Hardware multi-boxing? Hardware multi-boxing is using several computers wired together via switches or wireless mouse/keyboard combinations to play several accounts. This is usually 1 or 2 accounts per computer.

    2. Do you allow Software multi-boxing? Software multi-boxing is using one computer to run several accounts via hardware emulators or scripts that send a single key press to all open instances of a game window. See:

    Keyclone - http://www.solidice.com/keyclone/
    HotKeyNet - http://www.hotkeynet.com/
    Innerspace - http://www.lavishsoft.com/joomla/
    AutoHotKey - http://www.autohotkey.com/

While some of these programs can be used for many, many things, the vast majority of multi-boxers will only use them in compliance with the rules set forth in your game. For example, Innerspace can be used for automation {see 3} however, most multi-boxers will refuse to use such functions. When certain people who break the rules get caught and blame the program, we are the first to say it's not the program that broke the rules, it's the user. The user is responsible for knowing what is a violation and what is not. We neither expect nor request a seal of approval on any listed program, as your rules and the products can change at any time. See below.
I very clearly listed several common multiboxing applications and made a point of stating they CAN be used for automation, but that I understand automation is NOT a valid form of play in their games and is bannable, and only ask about these programs in FULL accordance with the EULA for each game. I also pointed out the difference between hardware and software multi-boxing and briefly explained how they are done.

Both times from both GMs I was told that both hardware and software multiboxing is allowed as long is there is no automation and unattended play.

Exactly the same response I got when I created an 'exploit' ticket on myself

HEH is wrong ... upper managment would not be happy with him I would venture to guess ... he must have thought it was a bot program and misunderstand ... sony has ruled on this many times .. i do not box anymore on SOE games and never used any programs to do it but SOE enjoys the multiple account peeps as long as they are not AFK programs ... I am getting ready to get back into hardwar boxing on another game LOTRO
Not playing anything except Skyrim at the moment until Legion is released
