Spell detail *should not* affect your ping, at least not shooting up from 43 to 1k. Spell detail will cause graphics lag if your graphics card can't handle it, but if you are fine in DAL you should be ok graphics wise in most BGs except maybe at the boss in AV with 40+ other people going crazyOriginally Posted by 'Fursphere',index.php?page=Thread&postID=189635#po st189635
To see your ping shoot up to over 1k points more likely to a network issue somewhere. It might be your PC, network card or CPU, it might be your router, it might be on blizzards internal network somewhere or the battleground server itself. I don't know the exact architecture of the blizzard network but I would assume that the battleground server(s) for a battle group are in the same physical location and the realm servers. That would make it unlikely that you have an issue between the two locations.
I would recommend testing with only one toon and see of the same thing happens. Also, on multiple toons, do they all go up that high or just one or some? Hareware or software box. Start collecting information and see if you see any trends. I woyld then take that to the Blizzard tech support forums. They also have the ability to actually check the status of their hardware and connections.
ok i tested it with just my main and worked fine no lag so i swaped to shadow song sever and tryed wsg there 4 boxing with level 19 it worked fine no lag i think it might just be something with this servers wsg not likeing me playing mages i normly play with every thing turned all the way down i software with an under powered laptop not useing wirless lol
That depends on a few things. First being how systems graphics are handled. If you have integrated graphics that share system memory and have you have a low amount of memory. You would start churning your HDD swapping causing your CPU to spend more time in IO wait - slowing down the amount of network traffic you process. I suppose that is possible. But for your system to get that crushed, it wouldn't be able to process and report a ping time. WoW is also has a very low network traffic profile. Hours 2-5 boxing usually registers in the 10s of MB.Originally Posted by 'Fursphere',index.php?page=Thread&postID=189655#po st189655
Spell detail can lag out your video, badly, to the point where you will "freeze" I still maintain that it will not affect your ping time, it is two different subsystems.
So one toon, no lag. Other server 4 boxing no lag. Everything always truned down but on an underpowered laptop. Did you try the other server at the same time of day? Is ot better at off-peak then peak?Originally Posted by 'Fuzzyfurball',index.php?page=Thread&postID=189660 #post189660
Looks like it might be a blizzard issue. I recommend hitting the tech support forums, they will have additional troubleshooting tips if nothing else.
