Default Can't figure out why I'm lagging

I wasn't sure if this should go in hardware, software, or here, so I put it here ^_^. If thats wrong please move it.

I orginally started with 5 dudes when WOTLK came out, but I got a bit burned out. After getting my dude to 80 in January and now having him full T7.5 and Full Deadly i've become a bit bored with WoW. Then while randomly perusing my favorites I saw this awesome new vid on this sites homepage. Decided I'd level 3 dudes up so I could try some 5v5 out ^_^.

While running around my main is getting on average about 17 FPS (With background dudes at 10). This is true whether I'm in Dalaran or Grizzly hills. I can't figure it out. I even tried /console maxfps 50 in game but it still didn't raise. The only time it goes to 30 is when I'm standing completely still.

    Anyhoo, heres what I'm running:

    3 Monitors
    Vista 64-bit
    2 Video cards - 9800gtx and 9600gt
    8bg of ram
    Dual-core 3.2 GHZ processor

I have my main guy on Monitor 1 connected to the 9800GTX.
The other two are each on a monitor and connected to the 9600gt.

I'm using keyclone to broadcast my keystrokes.

I have the video settings to lowest on all my dudes, except the main guy who has view distance at full.

The background has a maxfps of 10, and the main guy with a maxfps of 30.

Only program besides WoW and Keyclone thats running is itunes.

Any ideas? I ran 5 instances of wow with less issues on my old computer, can't figure out what could be causing this...

arent there problems running two monitors on one card. i remember i tried it once and it killed my fps. i was in XP at the time but i thought i read it did it in vista too but i dont remember. but that might be it. also if youre cards are set up sli i aso heard that wow doesnt agree with that either. do a search on those topics maybe youll find something. good luck

The 9800GTX and the 9600GT can't SLI with each other. And the "killed" FPS in XP is the dual-view "bug" that would literally cut your FPS in half. (Atleast that's what I think you were referring too.)

I would put my 2 cents on that the problem you have is caused by using 2 different gfx cards.
Make a test with only using your 9800 GTX for example. (Take out the other card during this test.)
At least you can rule out that the mix of cards is not causeing it if you have the same Lagg/FPS with only 1 card..

I'd also say it's from using two video cards/three monitors. Try not using your secondary card. (You don't HAVE to take it out, just don't use it for WoW.)

When you utilize two PCI-E cards what happens is resource swapping. Basically while the 9800 is using a resource the other card is on standby. Even though this happens really quick it will wreck your FPS. Buy a spliiter and run all three monitors off the 9800 and you will see your FPS go up. Use keyclone to set your min and max fps on each window and turn down your slaves to min video settings using the WoW interface.
