Default My MX Revolution mouse experience.

So i purchased this mouse along with N52 TE, boy oh boy did I setup myself for a big headache.

Firstly the pros: the mouse feels good, charges quick out of the box (who wants to wait 6 hours to play with a new toy, seriously?), it has very useful buttons with a great feel and it looks pretty nice.

Bad: Well the 4.72 Setpoint software (what they use for keybindings) did not work with wow, the center buttons would not function nor would my side roller button either. This started a long string of troubleshooting, forum browsing, phone support call, pm's to db users and emails to db users. I was unable to uinstall the software using the windows software removal processes.

The uninstall utility would run, and then it would error out saying that my operating system does not support this program? Im thinking, great what the hell do I do now? So back to the logitech forums i go in search of any reason why I can't uninstall this stuff. Notice a few issues on the forums with the mouse, and uninstalling or installing setpoint. This seems to be a common failure of logitech, their software implementation. I ended up calling tech suppor this morning the first person I spoke to was a total failure. His only answer to me, "The mouse is *NOT ever* going to work inside world of warcraft or video games, you need to buy a gaming series mouse for this." This really pissed me off for a few reasons, one i paid 109.33 for this mouse with tax ect included, I know it *CAN* work because people here say it does, so I wanted a supervisor. Dealing with the supervisor didn't really help with the technical side, but she was really good with the customer service skills and I was now passed off to Level 2 tech support. They were able to help me uninstall it with a registry cleaner and stuff, so I was n ow able to downgrade to the 4.60 software

The 4.60 setpoint software introduced its own little surprise, a non stop worming of its logitech update. Within 5-6 minutes of me installingi the software, i had 17500 processes going, of lulnchr.exe My computer maxxed out at 99% cpu and 99% ram and began to crash. Ok !! So wtf? Is this, well their tech hadn't ever heard of it, and their level 2 support didn't either. So I boot up another pc and go back to the forums, where i find in the same threads on center mouse button not working this explosion of update launching. It took me a bit to remove the folder, stop the launcher from running at startup and being able to use the software.

In the end 6 hours of forum browssing, 3 hours on the phone, many cusswords and 4 system restores (0nly way i could get it to uninstall previously) my mouse works, i can finnaly turn my slaves using the mouse !!!!

So buyer beware... don't purchase this mouse and expect it to work right out of the box, it won't in my experience at least. But once you get it going, man it is really nice.

I never heard of the mouse, and never thought of buying one, but this experience is making me RAAAAGE at something that 3 minutes ago I was completely unaware of and indifferent to!

I recently bought a version of this mouse a while ago and i didn't experience any problems with the software. I ended up not using it in the end as I didn't like the feel of the mouse in my hand (went with a nostromo in the end).

Edit: that said it worked as intended for turning my characters with the scroller.

i was able to get it to work with *old* setpoint software, but not the new or the stuff that came with the box. It wouldnt have been as much of a issue, if I could just unisntall it normally.. but having to remove registry keys and search for every last file as well as taking ownership of all folders was a super pain in the ass overall. Add in the constantly running LuLnchr.exe file (over 5,000) opening a minute ! i was pretty fed up, but still determined to prove their level 1 tech wrong, that it "wouldn't work no matter what i did".

Im happy now it works, just kinda a heads up to people just purchasing it.. you can make it work just dont expect it to be a free ride (althought it may !)

I've been using a revolution for a long time, along with uberoptions for added button flexibility. Runs like a charm. Setpoint, however, is quite a nasty piece of software, I have many issues connecting my keyboard correctly.

The key for using this mouse is NOT assigning special functions for mouse buttons 1-5 - just set them to generic mouse buttons. The rest work fine when assigned to keystrokes (as far as my experiences go).

Yeah i only bought this mouse to send left and right arrow keys from the center button, it was due to setpoint... a real piece of work that thing is

^^this...ive had one for the past 2 years and i love it. not only does it fit nice and comfortably but its smooth too. and while the logitech software could be alot better, ive had no issue with it at all. and from what ive seen, theres no other mouse that has as many buttons on it as the MX.

Assign the buttons to KEYPRESSES, then bind those keys to functions in WoW.
The buttons were assigned to keypresses, i tried k,q leftarrow, right arrow ect... stuff did not work with 4.72 in wow.

Anyone using most recent setpoint software and was able to get it to work?

    A few things:

    1) I strongly suggest against installing software to get a mouse to work. Mice have a buttons, MOUSE1, MOUSE2, MOUSE(N), and can be bound to functions within WoW without using crappy manufacturer software. No need to re-bind what the buttons do. Logitech. Setpoint. Sucks!

    2) While you almost always get what you pay for, there's a happy medium when buying mice, keyboards, etc. Look at the SteelSeries WoW MMO Mouse -- it sucks! Same price, same results. With the SteelSeries mouse, you're paying a premium because a) it's branded as a WoW mouse and b) *someone* (steelseries, blizzard, whoever) spent time and labor creating an in-game interface to be able to bind macros to the buttons. I'm glad as hell they didn't have the mouse available at Gamestop on WoTLK release night, because I would have wasted the money to support the game we all play and love -- World of Warcraft.

    3) Just as a shameless plug and first-hand user review, I've used the Logitech G5 (chucked the CD that came with it in the trash) for the past few years and it's been the most awesome mouse ever. Half the price of the mouse you're having trouble with and flawless performance. Again, the CD never left the paper sleeve when I bought my G5. Straight to the trizzash!

    4) I also bought the n52te (after seeing Ellay's video) and I just can't get myself to use it! I'm afraid of pressing the wrong buttons while practicing in a battleground and my team saying "YOU SUCK AT BOXXING QQQQQQQ!@@#!" when I know I can do well with the keyboard I've used since I started! I just need to spend a day or two playing a solo character, and I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.
