Every now and then, in addition to running avg, I'll run Rootkit Revealer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897445.aspx) as an added check. Maybe that would be a good next step if your issues are persistant? (I'm no security guru, though, so one of these super smart peeps can verify)
And, not sure if this is relevant to the OPs situation, but if you're running firefox, one of the first things I set up with it on a new machine is go to Tools > Options > Privacy and set states on the following
1. uncheck - Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar
2. check - accept cookies from sites (set any exceptions)
2a. uncheck - accept third-party cookies
2b. set 'Keep until' to 'I close Firefox'
3. check - Always clear my private data when I close Firefox
3b. settings - click the settings tab and check every box
4. uncheck - Ask me before clearing private data
Then everytime I close my browser (you have to close them all) it clears my browsing, download, search and form history, the cache, cookies, offline website data, any saved passwords, and authenticated sessions.
I don't know if there is an automated option for clearing all those items on close in IE.
