I must say it's nearly impossible to receive a virus/spyware/adaware/etc-aware by using X web browser as long as you don't install browser addons or download and run software. Unknowingly install software, and you're done for. There are only a few pieces of software that are okay for the common user to install: Macromedia Flash, Shockwave, and JRE. If you can't browse the web using only these "addons", then you're fucked.

Of course I keep an unbiased attitude when someone comes in my shop that "has a virus" and goes on to say they're all over myspace and facebook, but deep inside I couldn't hate social networking sites any more.

No one wants to see a grainy webcam picture of your 12-year-old daughter's ass. Sorry!
