    Smile noob boxer here.

    Hey people, whats up?

Im a noob mutliboxer just thought id introduce myself. Level 80 blood elf deathknight Tehlarzz from the Forgotten Coast here. I have a 60 druid, a 60 preist, and a 54 rogue all horde on the same server.

I want to box 5 alliance chars on Elune. Im thinking 3 mages, 1 paladin tank, and one paladin healer. Doing the recruit a friend to level faster. Bought and downloaded keyclone. used the wiki guide to set it up. Been playing around with it. I made a second account. Gonna just box two chars until i get used to it and get to learn the way everything works. My problem at the moment is i cant quite keep my characters together.

Ive never really used macros that much, still getting used to that too. Ive only been playing WoW since March of 09.

What would you guys reccommend for me, as far as key settings, macros, and addons?

The easiest will be a focus based approach.

Each toon has a macro, on the same keybind as your maximizer PiP switch key, as the toon who's window you are switching to.

So if your hotkeys are Shift F1 and Shift F2, for window 1 and 2 (in Keyclone), then both toons focus the first toon on Shift F1 and both toons focus the other toon on Shift F2.

Then every character can have a follow macro, on the same keybind.
    Basically goes:
    /Follow [target=focus]

And each toon can have similar DPS macros.
    /Cast [target=FocusTarget] Nasty Spell

    And heals can be:
    /assist [target=Focus]
/cast [help] Nice Spell; [help, target=TargetTarget] Nice Spell

Plus you can have toon specific heals, which aren't focus based.
For example Numpad 1 will heal toon 1, Numpad 2 will heal toon 2.

If you haven't made your toons yet, I'd go for a Resto Shaman as healer.
Normally Priest/Druid are my top choices for heals, but without heroism/bloodlust already on the team, I'd take a hard look at the shammy.
The pally is lacking an AoE heal and is an immobile healer.
The shammy is immobile to an extent (Riptide and Earth Shield can heal on the move), but the shammy adds AoE healing (Chain Heal).
Priest has Holy Nova/Prayer of Healing and the Druid has Wild Growth.
But a shammy has Wrath of Air (spell haste), Tremor (fear protection) or Strength of Earth (Str/Agi buff for pally), Flametongue Totem (spell power) and either Health Regen totem (if Pally blesses Wisdom on the casters) or Mana Regen (if pally gives Sanctuary/Kings). Plus you get Heroism/Bloodlust every 10 mins, which can be huge for bosses.

    RAF is good.
    I'd do a chain link, something like: A -- B -- C -- D -- E
    Boost several teams during RAF.
It will give you more options down the road.
You would get a lot more teams leveled if you boosted with the DK.
And for every two sets of toons you boost, you get a free 60th from granted levels, from whichever account to the account previous to it in the chain.

For addons, the only boxer required (well not required, just extremely nice) addon is Jamba.
No essential key settings for a predominantly caster team.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

    Welcome to the DB community.

In regard to your team choice, you might want to consider a priest or druid as your healer. Pallies are great single target healers but there are a number of heroic bosses that do AoE damage, and it can be difficult to heal through with pallies.

As far as keybinds go, these are very subjective, so there's no 'best' method other than whateer you are most comfortable with.

For Macros and Addons, have a look in the Macros and Addons section of the forms (bet you never saw that coming! ).

I would definitely recommend getting Jamba, as it has been written especially for boxers and has a bunch of features that make boxing a lot easier.

    Cheers,
    S.

thanks for the help guys. so far so good. I took your advice and decided to go with a shaman healer, paladin, and 3 mages.
I just installed Jamba. I finally couldn't stand the headache of tracking quests on all 5 chars at once anymore lol.

i have some simple attack macros for the 3 mages, that activate whenever i melee attack with the paladin. Whenever my main (the paladin) attacks, the 3 mages target his target and cast fireball. I have heal macros set up for the shammy. A macro to heal each party member. havent bothered making macro for buffs yet, since its too easy to just mouse over and click the buff. Having dual monitors is real nice for multiboxing.

So yeah, real simple/retarded macros. Gonna go with this until i start dieing alot because im lazy like that.

Ive been having some issues with PiP maximizer switch. I have my 5 chars bound to the shift+f1, shift+f2, shift+f3, shift+f4, shift+f5. Sometimes these keys dont work at all it seems, other times, I can switch primary screen to some of my alts, but others dont work.. Sometimes when i switch screens, the WoW windows end up on top of each other. What can I do to avoid this?

To speed up the quest process, you should try to setup a key for:

Interact with target (IWT) in your keybinds. Then enable "click to move".

you should now be able to target an NPC and hit the IWT button and the dialog should open up.

Having a real hard time with maximizer switch. I cant switch between windows. I have 5 windows across two monitors.
Shift F1 for my main, Shift F2 for my first mage, shift F3 for my shaman healer, Shift F4 for my second mage, and Shift F5 for my 3rd mage.

When i try and switch the windows by pressing the hot keys. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any idea why?

Also i dont understand the focus approach to well, so these are the macros I have been using for my characters. Please advise

    Paladin tank: main. no macros

    Mage 1 : /target imnotblueirl
    /follow imnotblueirl

    /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast fireball

    /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast arcane intellect

    /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast fire blast

    Mage 2: /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast fireball

    /target imnotblueirl
    /follow imnotblueirl

    /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast dampen magic

    Mage 3: /target imnotblueirl
    /follow imnotblueirl

    /assist imnotblueirl
    /cast fireball

    Shaman heals: /target imnotblueirl
    /follow imnotblueirl

    /cast earthbound totem

    /cast stoneskin totem

    /target krillinn
    /cast healing wave

    /target imnotblueirl
    /cast healing wave

    /target polymorpheus
    /cast healing wave

    /target larzcanheal
    /cast healing wave

    /target squishylarz
    /cast healing wave

All my chars are around level 17. I also have the left arrow key binded to strafe left so that i can break follow whenever i want.
These macros were working ok for me, until i tried my first 5 man dungeon. I wiped at the first boss because i could not keep the tank alive with heals. Any suggestions or recommendations?

    Your PiP swaps are:
    Shift F1
    Shift F2
    Shift F3
    Shift F4
    Shift F5

    In a focus approach.
Within warcraft on the Shift F1 keybind, all clients have the macro /Focus ToonA.
Within warcraft on the Shift F2 keybind, all clients have the macro /Focus ToonB.
    Etc.

So when you hit Shift F4 and toon 4 is the active toon.
Toon 4 becomes the focus of every toon.

    Your one follow macro is:
    /follow [target=focus]

Does not matter who the focus is, that's the toon you follow.

DPS casts at the focus's target.
Again doesn't matter which toon is leading.
Your slaves (and active toon) cast at the target of the Focus (active toon).
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

KeyClone swaps the window underneath your mouse, I assume it checks the region the mouse is in and then does the swap. So if your mouse is not hovering over your main window but one of the clones and you hit a PiP swap key then it will not swap your main window but with the window under the mouse. Also, if you spam PiP swap keys you will run into some very strange behaviour with windows being placed in the same regions and it is a pain to recover from.

PiP swapping is not one of KeyClone's strongest points.
