45-55 Boosting in Stratholme

Thanks for the great tutorial vid! I watched it as I ran my group through the same section.

Where do you go after Strat? LBRS, UBRS (now that the door is permanently open), or someplace else? I had been running my guys through LBRS, but thought I would give Strat a try. Your Strat technique is a hell of a lot faster than LBRS. Just curious if you had a similar technique for 55-60.

I did Ramparts 55-60. One clear of it takes 15-20 mins and gives a full level with RAF. It can be cleared in 3-4 pulls.
1st pull go up to the guy who calls the dogs.
2nd pull go all the way to the spiral including the 1st boss.
3rd pull clear hallway and open area before the last 2 bosses.
I also kill Omar for lewts.

The greens in here are a good place to start gearing your characters for questing.

I got all the gear with gem slots from the lower 60 instances. They are way OP if you gem new WotLK gems into them. 24 stam gems only cost about 7g each on my server. I had ~15k hp on my pally tank at level 66.

Maybe I'll fraps it this weekend as I still have locks that can get xp in there.

Interesting. It's around 4.7M XP for 60-70, if we take 15 mins per level from 55-60 which is around 800K then we get a rate of ~640K per hour or ~215K without RAF. This would indicate a boosting time of around 22 hours if you can maintain the XP/hour rate through the higher Outlands instances. I think this is faster than questing 60-70, assuming you can hold the XP rate per hour. I don't know how well the kill speed would hold up once you'd move up to the tougher instances...

Actually, re-thinking a sec, you'd only want to boost to 65 anyhow, and then go to Utgarde Keep. This would take around 1.8M XP or ~8-9 hours... I imagine you can make it to 65 in Ramps/Furnace but if the XP drops off then Slave Pens would also work and is easily doable at 80th.

Did you ever try UBRS from 45-58?
I did it with my shaman group I leveled through RAF and it was pretty damn fast - I also didn't have to fight or do anything with my toons - the whole work will be done by the tank you got there. Just pull the complete first UBRS room (in every room you got about 1-2 summoners which summon and summon as much mobs as long as their mana is letting them). Try not to get kicked out into the LBRS section of the instance again which is where you toons will be parked (I did it this way) right at the wall left from the way up to the UBRS part facing to the wall. :P

Then just go to the first room in this section and let all the summoned mobs and whatnot slap you in the face as for as long as they survive in your consecration and et voila - happy toons! One "run" took me about 6-7 minutes which gave my toons about 80-120% of the XP necessary to level which changed of course with them leveling up that fast. The only "problem" here is that you have to survive that much mobs (level 55-60, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27529 helps alot!) and be sure that you got enough shields with you. If you get kicked out of the UBRS section into the LBRS part your toons will be noticed by the mobs and die very fast but if you're careful enough this shouldn't happen too often. Ah and the 5 instances / hour limitation sucks really much at this point.

I did however never try stratholme for this kind of leveling since the UBRS was so pretty damn fast and effective.

I tried boosting my 65 druids in Utgarde keep. Speced them all resto to keep me moving. It worked decently up to the first boss but it really wasn't much faster than normal running the zone. It might be worth looking into using a different spec of something for more dps. My prot warrior was only doing 1500 or so dps in there.

Yeah it's gone. Looks like they may have changed their format a little.

I was going to just re upload it but I watched it again and it really was horribly dark. Also the resolution was off. So I rendered it over with all the fixes. I made the file size smaller by using half NTSC frame rate so it's a little low on the FPS(~15fps) but still looks better than youtube I think.

do the recording programs have trouble recording with game audio? I figured something like that as the reason for all the kids' new-fangled music in most of the videos out there.

You can record sound but when you speed it up to keep it interesting it ends up soundsing like clickclickclicksnapsnapsnapclickthunk.

Well actually the game sounds like that anyway but when it's speeded up its worse lol.
