I used my hunters at 70 to boost my toons through SM.
I works pretty well,if you use a GorillaDin and BM you can just send your pet around gathering up as many mobs as it can tank,whilst you wait at a safe spot.
Create a misdirection macro on your pet them just put a frost trap down,cast misdirection/trinket and multishot,then start using volley on them as they come for you over your frost trap,use disengage to get more room to put another volley in.
This is what I used to clear at 70,so 80 should be a breeze.
