Command to stop following and begin casting?

Looking for the best way to stop the clones from following leader so they may begin casting spells which requires rooting (fireball, arcane missiles, etc). I've tried making a macro on my Nostromo that begins with an arrow up key press, followed by my hotkey for the spell. It still wont work until my clone catches up with me and is rooted.

Just add a key which makes your clones strafe. Tap it and it'll break follow.
