Default Gaming mouse alternative to the Steelseries?

I have really wanted that Steelseries WoW Gaming Mouse lately, but nobody seems to have it in stock. Amazon.com lists a 2-4 week waiting period right now.

I mostly want it because of the 15 programmable buttons! In particular, the ability to map these buttons to keyboard keys!!!!

Does anyone know if there is a good alternative to this mouse that has the same functions? Multiple buttons that can be mapped as keyboard keys?

i use a logitech vx nano with logitech's setpoint program. i have keyboard keys mapped for most of the buttons and scroll wheel. not only that, i have it set so that the mapping only applies when i play WoW. meaning if i alt+tab out and search something on firefox, the mouse settings change automatically, then change back when i go back to playing WoW.

Although not a gaming mouse I use the Logitech MX Revolution. It allows me to bind up to 10 keys and with a modifier I can go even more of course. Along with Set Point profiles I also use UberOptions which is a third party program that allows me to map any of the buttons to key strokes.

Shoot, I'll sell you mine. Only been used for about 2 minutes. I don't like the way it fits my hand...

I've heard a lot of bad things about the WoW mouse. From it feeling flimsy to buttons breaking, I know I won't be getting it. I use my trusty Logitech MX 518, 8 buttons that are mappable to keys, and it's nice and 'heavy' feeling. I've had this one for over 2 years, and not an ounce of problems.

thanks for sharing. well now we know there's actually some metal on that thing. i really hope they make a better product one day. i really do like the idea of a thumbpad on the mouse. that's actually the only thing i think is nice about that mouse, having a D-pad where the thumb is. thats four buttons! =]

I don't think there is actually any metal, though...just plasic..and maybe an exposed wire somewhere :P

First time i tried the mouse, i thought it was super sensitive, and not in the dpi sense.
It was much lighter than the G9 weighed down to the max that i switched from (and subsequently back to) and i would end up hitting the buttons on the "d-pad" when i tried to move the mouse. After an hour or so, you do get used to the new weight and where to not stick your thumb.
The d-pad is actually pretty convenient for gaming macros. The rest of the buttons are a little of an uncomfortable reach for me.
The backlight color is nice especially since you can set it to any color (except black), though some of them you can barely tell apart.
Between the G13 and the mouse, however, you don't need a keyboard which is a big plus for it.
