Default HKN Mousewheel is functional (Want good customer service? How about great?!?!)

I don't think it's a secret that I'm one of Hotkeynet's biggest fans. One of the very few functionalities that was missing from HKN was the ability to use the mousewheel. In other words, HKN didn't recognize rolling the wheel forward or back which meant that a very accessible button was not usable for broadcasting. Well, after asking Freddie to look into it, he has now added the functionality in build 166! Now when you roll the mousewheel forward you can send whatever keystroke you want to your client... want to heal your tank with mousewheel forward and your party with mousewheel back? Done! I haven't tested it yet, but it could be possible to move your slaves forward with mousewheel forward and have them walk backwards with mousewheel back!

I am personally looking forward to the day when I can pay and support HKN. For those of you who haven't tried the currently free product, I implore you to give it a shot. It is a truly powerful, customizeable, and easy program to use, once the very short learning curve is passed. I'm pretty sure it has useful functionality that doesn't currently exist in other programs. One you know how HKN works, it is extremely fast to change things and try new ideas.

I agree, despite the misconception I was complaining in the other thread. I didn't expect any sort of answer for a while and I got immediately.

I think it could catch on more with a simple gui added. Click, a button for hotkey, then something to listen for what key you push and yadda yadda yadda. Then nobody has to open up the text file, though the scripting is easy enough.

I agree about the GUI but instead of slapping a few half assed screens onto HotkeyNet I decided to write a whole new program from scratch where everything is as automated and graphical as possible.

    ProgramW (working title)

This new program will also serve as the code base for HotkeyNet 2.0, which will have a much better script language.

HotKeyNet has my vote! I tried them all a few months ago when I started boxing. HotKeyNet setup in my opinion has all the features, is the simplest, and makes the most sense. I'm 5-boxing on a quad-core (with 4 little pictures-in-picture) and getting great performance with main screen swapping and all.

    Thanks Freddie!

HKN did the job for me as well. Can`t wait for this new project :-)

I'm a big fan of HKN too. I started with a different software solution, finally got fed up with a lack of attention from the author, tried HKN mostly just to kill some time one evening, and was converted by the end of the session. It is a mighty thing! I actually enjoy delving into the guts of HKN (I guess the nearest equivalent would be deriving enjoyment from installing Windows or configuring a router. So I'm weird, so what?), but am sure I'll forgive the new program for making that unnecessary.
