Default Curious about Keyclone as a new 2-boxer

Just like the subject line shows, I am currently running a Ret Pally / Priest combo with RAF leveling and the RAF leveling guide found in these threads. First I would like to say Nice job on that RAF leveling guide it is the best thing since sliced bread and butter. My question though is about the use of Keyclone with this 2-box combo. I am currently having issues setting up the needed macros for the priest (who I would like to stay Disc/holy), and the Pally staying Ret. I am like I had said having issues setting up macros for this combo let alone buying keyclone to further the confusion.

Would keyclone help me out and make this a little easier? I am currently just playing in window mode, and clicking from screen to screen if I need heals or to cast shadow spells. As well I feel like I am missing out on a lot of DPS due to this in-ability to use my priest properly. I would ultimatly turn the priest full shadow if I new a way to set up the macros and use Keyclone.

My current Priest macros are this:

To Heal I use this macro:
    /target pally
    /cast heal spell

    To help damage I use:
    /assist pally
    /cast shoot

This is a macro I was trying to get going but failed in the end so I gave up:
    /assist [pally]
    /cast Shadow Word: Pain
    /cast [target=focus, nodead, harm] Smite ()

Anything other than that I couldnt seem to get the macro to work right, or just plain out didnt understand the write up on the macro. I am realy new to macros and have read different threads on how to make them. I guess i am just one of those folks who are not made for this kinda stuff. Or I am missing out on something.

Anything you all could recommend would be great, as well the keyclone program on if it would help out my combo. They are currently level 22 and climbing fast!

    Thanks

(edit for a mix up in format)

Keyclone - press blah on client 1 = press blah on client 2

You can have different spells mapped per client to the same key press.

If that sounds convient to you then yes it's convenient.

Edit - that may not sound very helpful and I may have missed your point. But in terms of a replicator per se - yes Keyclone is a dead simple, inexpensive and user-friendly way of passing the same keypress to multiple clients. Is it going to write all the macros for you? No. Someone better minded to macros than me will help you though I'm sure.

Ok sounds good, thanks for the info.

Still if there is anyone out there that has a few good ideas on how to get some good Shadow spec macros for my priest to work with Keyclone it would be much appriciated. Or if this does not fit in this catagory I am sorry. I will look into getting keyclone up and running soon.

    Thanks again

It was amacro I thought someone else was using but I guess it was an amature macro or something.

I am just trying to get a macro together that will assist my pally, and cast lets say shadow wordain and cast mind blast and smite. Then maybe add in shoot, or is that to much? Realy I am just looking at adding in a macro that will help my pally DPS without having to switch back and forth in screens (at least until I get keyclone up and running).

    Thanks again

I dual box as well, sometimes on one machine and sometimes on two. Either way I use Keyclone and would recommend it. For me it removes most of the downside to multi-boxing; that is all the switching from one client to another. I think the first thing you want to know is what kind of difference it will make in a typical play-session. If you set it up with picture-in-picture (very easy) then you'll be playing as though you are controlling one character who's capable of doing the actions of both. The exceptions are of course that a.) you need to loot with both toons (easy with picture in picture - just point and loot in the small box) and b.) all of your quest interactions have to be done by both characters (good news! the addon Jamba can take care of this, along with a dozen other things like flight paths, selling, repairing, autofollow, chat etc).

Speaking specifically about the character setup, it's as simple as pressing '1' will activate your hotkey on both characters. For example, if both characters have an opener then make sure they use the same hotkey. Frequent bread and butter attacks could be bound to the same key as well. I haven't played a pally since vanilla WoW, but I'm currently under the impression that they don't have a standard rotation; if that's the case then it will be slightly more awkward for you to set this up.

As for your macro, I think you're missing both a count and reset with end of combat. That way it will cast SW:P once and then smite thereafter until either the count is up or combat ends. The next cast will start with SW:P again. I don't know squat about macros beyond what I've copied from this site, but I should be easy to find in the macro section. I would suggest browsing over searching as you will come up with a dozen other ideas.

Ok well I bought a copy of Keyclone. I am having some difficulties getting it up and running, once I have my two boxes on one monitor set up do I need to stay in the recommended res of 800x600? I am sure the answer is no, but I want to ask anyways. Once I start up keyclone and "add" the two accounts what is next, Just simply setting up macros or is there other detailed setup information that I should be setting up? I tried playing the two togeather and they do in fact do the same things as far as keys go, heck I seem to also type in both accounts at the same time, as for auto follow my "slave" account follows for a min then starts running off to the right or left, is this something that can be fixed? As well do I have to use the arrow keys or "WASD" to move around with? I know this is a lot of info and I am sorry just trying to get up and going with this.

As well I am finding that a pally / priest combo is in fact hard to get going for a new person to macros and keyclone. may I ask a general question of what would be the best 2-box class to learn how to start doing keyclone and macros with? Maybe a setup with a very detailed explanation on how the user set up their system with. I seem to be thinking that 2 arcane mages (or fire at that)would be fairly easy to get going?

    Thanks
