Default Am I just done with MMO games?

Well a few months ago I left WoW since then I have tried almost every MMORPG at least every one I could find that I thought would interest me. I usually find one or two reasons to dislike a game and those reasons eat at me until I start to hate whatever game I'm playing.

Here are the games I've tried and the reasons I eventually grew to hate the game.

    • WoW - I think I just played too long but the reason I finally left was it was taking me 24 hours played to get 1 level with my 5 box team.
    • SWG - I only left because of the combat update I never grew to hate this game.
    • EQII - I left after my main (Paladin) could no longer tank, went back after 2 years and loved the game up to level 50 then leveling was too slow for me.
    • LoTRO - I left originally because of high repair costs on my main (Guardian) came back after 18 months then quit because of slow leveling speed after level 30.
    • WAR - I stopped playing after level 20 because the game just got boring to me. This game was to me the most fun game I've played since SWG.
    • City of Heroes - I just got bored after a week.
    • Pirates of the Caribbean - Making gold was just too hard and I always lost my gold gambling.
    • Guild Wars - I didn't like all the instanced zones.
Currently I playing Runes of Magic and it seems fun but I don't think it has longevity. I have been thinking of trying AoC as I love the Conan books and it seems almost like the last game left.

Anyone have any suggestions for a MMORPG? Should I just give up trying to play MMORPG games?

I doubt you'll have fun multiboxing age of conan, its a decent enough game solo for a while but you'll suffer the same malaise after a few days or weeks - beyond the initial fun of boobies and hack'n'slash nothing really new or interesting in AoC, and the game is probably closer to shutting down than thriving. I'd say stop playing MMOs and check out the dozens of awesome single player games out in the past few years, by the time you go through them (I just finished Fallout3, awesome game!!) hopefully a new MMO like Bioware's Star Wars or even the next Blizzard MMO, or Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 will be out!

Anarchy Online - but you need to give it some time, it is very complex. It's an old game but it's one I am always going back to.

You can download the client and create a free account that allows you to play the original game (no expansions included), well, for free of course. I've posted some information in the Wiki if you're interested and there are many fansites with guides and of course the official forums: forums.anarchy-online.com.

What about something like Neverwinter Nights?

I played the single player when it first came out and never got into the multiplayer part but I enjoyed it. Those Bio Ware RPG games like Baldur's Gate were always some of my favorite.

Pool of Radiance on the Commodore 64 will always hold a special place in my heart too.

Eve online has some really good parts to it. SKill based game. Open market. Multiboxing is easy in that the gameplay is a lot slower (a lot of warping around in space ships). Beyond the fact that theres a follow command in the game its not very friendly for "true" boxing. There arent really key commands, its mouse based so you couldnt multiplex in that way. However, as I mentioned, the gameplay is a bit slower so its generally not hard to run a few characters at once.
Currently running 10 miners in Eve Online.

I find myself always going back to old text-based MUDs. telnet://chaosmud.org:23 and telnet://zombiemud.org:3000 in particular.

Kinda surprised some of those games are still around at all.

I think Vanguard Saga of Heroes might be worth trying. I'd consider playing that if I wasn't playing WoW.
