    Default Mac Modifier question

For some reason I cannot use modifiers (shift, ctrl, alt) in macros bound to my F1, F2 .... keys. The macros will fire if I don't press the modifier but will not do the modified ability.
I assume it does not work because Shift-F2, for example, is bound somewhere. I don't know where. It is not bound in WoW so I assume it is bound in the Mac OS. I've have searched through the System Preferences and cannot find it. (I already disabled all the unmodified F-functions in the OS because I play on a lap top and all the keys were bound to brightness, volume etc ...)

Can any Mac users shed some light on this problem?

    Thanks a lot.

you know that in system prefrences you can specify that the function keys only do the associated F1 - F12 commands and not the default brightness and volume options

    Yes. i did that. I just don't know if the Shift-Fkeys, Ctrl-Fkeys, Alt-Fkeys are bound anywhere I can't find.
