    Default Patches with SymLinked folders?

I'm having trouble with the latest patch...

The main one is updated... but the symlinked ones are having problems, I cant update them, and when I try to log in, it says I need to update... ugh

You may need to do the symlink again after the update.

I know for my own system, I have to do the following and I don't know why:

My Main folder is named WOW2, but when there is a patch I need to rename it back to what I had when I installed the game World of Warcraft 2. I have no idea why but it works.

I also redo my symlinks on my other folder for my slaves, and voila mine works.
Gareatank Blood Elf Level 80 Protadin
Gareatan Orc Level 80 DK Tank
Gareb, Garec, Garee, Garef - Level 80 Troll Horde Shammies!
Garea - Level 71 Horde Shammy!
Garez, Garey, Garew, Garev, Gareu - Level 80 Draenei Alliance Shammies!
Currently farming Horde Heroic Utgarde Keep, Utgarde Pinnacle, Gundrak, Drak'Tharon, and Culling of Stratholme(5 Drakes now)

Will this work? it seems to have so far...

I deleted all thefolders but the one that updated right, and then just copied it to make the new folders, just left out the part I was symlinking

From what I have been able to figure out there are only two places (read folders) that get updated, for pretty much every update. All other folders dynamically generated/updated. The folders that get update are the main wow folder (typically "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft"), and the Data folder inside the main folder. Since the data folder is Symlinked, all you should need to do is copy all files from the main folder in your main, to the main folders of your alts.

Hope that wasn't to confusing. Also, check out Lazyboxer .

I've had to do this with mine. I just copy all the folders from my main and paste over the existing folders in slaves. I don't copy the data and interface folders since they are symlinked. one problem i keep having tho, the setup i have on my slaves using Bartender keep getting wiped out, so i have to keep redoing the layouts. very annoying, but yesterday i got fed up with it and stopped using Bartender and XPerl both on my alts. Both to cut down on memory usage and because of the files getting erased.

Yeah thats what wound up working. I was angry at first thinking I was going to have to wait for like 50gb of transfers... but then I realized that the WoW folder is only like 13mb without the Data and Interface folders =)

Are you copying the WTF folder? because if you are, basically you are over writing the settings for your alts, with the settings of your main. You don't need to copy folders, just the files.
