Default Best DK Group Setup Question

Here is some background information. I have 5 dk's made and I plan on using 4 of them with 1 priest to do pve. When I made them I didnt give it much thought on race. I would like to keep the tank on the same account as my pally tank. From what I have read tauren is best for tank. I also read that orcs are better for dps. The way it stands right now I have an orc on my tank account. Likewise, I have a tauren on one of my dps accounts. I have one Blood Elf on a dps account too wich adds nothing in the area of pve. All the dk's with the exception of the orc on the tank account have max rest xp. They are all lvl 58 sitting in thrallmar inn.

    Question:

In the long run, is it worth deleting the following for better group balance? Orc from tank account (replace with tauren), tauren from dps account (replace with orc), and delete Blood Elf from the dps account (replace with orc).

I am already considering spec options that include a frost/unholy tank to provide frost aura and the melee group buff. DPS will include blood aura & unholy aura. In addition I will spec for both the blood and unholy group buffs. At this point I am leaning towards each dps specs that include a perma pet and gargoyle for extra damage. I would appeciate any input on this. The past few days I have been reading up on dk's. My knowledge is still very basic.

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

I just did a check and the tauren health bonus is very small. Not worth changing for. However, the dps and racials of the orc seem worth changing for. Looks like I may have 4 orc dk's. I just hope 5 mans that cast poisons and curses dont own me. Some of the heroic poison dots hurt bad.

Yes orcs are the best. You are just shooting yourself in the foot if you dont use them and PVE. I use a druid and I was really /sadpanda about his healing ability at 80, but now that he is getting geared the difference is night and day. Whats even better is I can just keep him on follow for everything and heal on the run. I just downed that annoying boss (xehvozz? something like that) and he was EASY with this setup. I just kept backing up. Druids do kinda miss out on the super awesome crit heals though. Oh well, just learn to keep the hots rolling on your tank, they never run oom either. The group AE heal is nice, however I think priests is better as its a NON-HoT which is nice when you need a heal RIGHT NOW. This situation often results in a wipe for my group and I have no doubt that the priest group heal would have saved them. Oh well!

That settles it.. I am going to delete my cow and elf and make 2 new orcs for the dps. I have been going over specs like crazy today. I wonder how many abilities overlap. Something like not all shaman taking totem of wrath or something. I though the anti magic zone would be cool but it cost 6 points to get. I may drop that from my plans.

This is what I was thinking for my dps..

Tank will be frost/unholy. I have much to learn and rotation macros to setup.

When I first thought about rolling a 5 DK team (and abandoned that idea after how long it took me to level my shamans from 70-80) I was going to make a orc DK tank and 4 tauren DK dpsers. The reason is that many people have said that taurens have larger "to hit" boxes than other races -- ie they can stand further back while still meleeing.

So with a orc tank and 4 tauren meleers in tow, you can basically run up to a mob and start whacking at it, and the follow distance from the tauren to the orc will be "perfect" so you don't have to move any extra.

Of course its not a big deal (imo) to just move forward 1 extra step or have a formation key or whatever, just an extra step you will have to do for every battle. Right now on my shamans though usually I have to make everyone stop before my tank runs in, so all in all I doubt its a big deal.

Tauren no longer have extra melee range anymore(in fact it was nerfed before the expansion hit.) So don't go that route. It's pretty easy to just make sure that the forward arrow button only works on your slaves so you can inch them up to your main.

Yeah, he is correct in that they nerfed it a while ago.

We found out the hard way when they did, we were learning the Vashj fight, so of course lots of wipes. Our tank usually died up right next to Vashj, so we had this Cow Shaman go res him every time, because he had just enough extra range to get him without drawing aggro. So he goes up to res our tank, and Vash aggros, our healer who had been half asleep at the bottom of the platform notices we are in combat. Runs up, heals the shaman, then is like OHH SHIT and runs back down the platform. Vashj of course follows, and procedes to wax the entire raid.

We spent a good amount of time laughing about that one. Then someone comes on vent "Yeah dude, they nerfed the hitbox range." lol...

Not trying to hijack your thread but.. what for pvp? Or for both pvp and pve? Blood Elves and their aoe silence + 2% spell resist looks pretty good for pvp.. and maybe for pve tanking. Is it worth giving up the orc extra AP trinket for advantages over casters?

Dont forget orcs get expertise on axes. They are kings of PvE for DKs, however you are correct about BEs in PvP, also to a lesser extent UD are good for PvP.
