    Default Melee targetting issues

    Hey all.

    Software boxing 2 sessions
    Using HKN
    2 DKs

I am having trouble with targeting mobs efficently. I have a set up a couple of macros to /target & /follow & /assist and most of the time, everything works fine. Both DKs target the same mob, both of them attack the same mob, the mob dies and I move on. Sometimes the secondary DK targets the mob then just stands around, freeloading. I can't figure out why it won't attack--it won't even shift into an attack stance! Sometimes it targets a different mob and shifts into the attack stance, but does nothing b/c the other mob is too far away. Trying to retarget with my /assist macro sometimes causes the Main's target to shift elsewhere. I am starting to get frustrated. To attempt to compensate, I often try to circle-strafe around the mob(s) to position the other DK somewhere near the back of the mob or at least in a postion where the DK's combat arc can hit the mob. Sometimes this works, but it's not 100%--sometimes the mob starts trying to circle around to my Main's back. I then find myself in some sort of circling loop where the Main is chasing the mob, the mob is chasing the Main and the second DK is skipping around doing nothing other than firing off a Icy touch here or there when the mob is in it's combat arc. I find myself having to stab my /target Main /follow macro to get the secondary DK to refocus onto the Main and then attack the Main's mob.

I've come to the conclusion that maybe i'm 'doing it wrong.'

I've been looking at a lot of the macros in this forum. Currently, my targeting system consists of two macros(see below). I'm trying to keep everything very simple so that I can easily solo with either DK or use either DK as the 'Main' without changing my bars around or shifting my keys about. Is the problem my macros? Do I need to move to a more elaborate macro setup, using focus target? My system works 85% of the time, but it really breaks down once i start fighting anything above 4 mobs. I tried a few 9 mob pulls (they were green) and things went horribly awry a few times due to that problem with my targeting. The secondary DK would invaribly get out of range of the targets left alive or the DK would be in-range, but not attacking. It would just stand there while the Main was getting the crap kicked out of it.

    Any advice?

    Macro 1:
    /target [modifier:shift]Main
    /follow

    Macro1b:
    /target [modifier:alt]Secondary
    /follow

    Macro 2:
    /assist Main
    /follow

    Macro 2b:
    /assist Secondary
    /follow

    Default

IMO try switching your Macro 2A+B so it does the /follow first then the /assist that should fix your problem

When you do the /assist first it does indeed do the assit but when the /follow comes right after. It might due to programming errors in the gma eor someother reason. Cause the /assist to Cancel out.

so ya just try switching teh order of the Macro2A and B around so it does the /follow first. let me know if that helps you
