I am so confused 8| I see people talking about boosting using instances after the toons are level 8? How does it work if the group has 1 - lvl 80 and 4 - lvl 8s, since every mob is trivial to the level 80?

    I see why you're confused and I also don't understand Vyndree's post.

Although Blizzard may change it in the future, many users who do RAF do take a higher level toon and powerlevel lower level toons through instances. If your higher level toon is 80, and your new toon is 10, then that RAF link will not be active and the lowbie will not get 3x exp. However, if your higher level toon is 80, your new toon is 10, and another new toon that is RAF linked to the 10 is in the group and withing the level range, then the two lowbies will get 3x exp. In other words, if your only RAF link is through the high level and the low level then it will not work. You will need two low level toons that have a RAF link and a third high level if you plan to powerlevel through instances (a total of at least 3 accounts).
This is how I did it. I already had a 70 mage (before WotLK was released) and started two new accounts that were linked. I leveled up two linked lowbies by grouping the 70 and running instance after instance. The base xps were rather poor, but with the group and RAF bonuses, it went pretty quick.

I don't know if this still works, as I finished my leveling grind before they came out with their first round of "fixes" for RAF bonuses. I suspect that this technique may still work, though, as it really isn't an "exploit".

Notice that, when the RAF-linked toons kill a mob that is trivial to either character, they do not receive the RAF bonus.

My earlier post was simply that -- since the OP has two RAF-linked accounts, and is grouping two RAF-linked characters, and one of his RAF-linked characters is level 50 and one is level 1, he cannot get triple XP unless the killed mob gives experience to BOTH the level 50 character and the level 1 character. I even added the official blue post on the matter. I don't really see why that was a confusing post, since it applies directly to the OP's quoted text.

How does it work if the group has 1 - lvl 80 and 4 - lvl 8s, since every mob is trivial to the level 80?
Anyway, my previous post says NOTHING about anyone ELSE in their party who is NOT connected via RAF. (i.e. a 3rd account with a high-level character to whom the mobs are trivial, boosting the two RAF-linked low-level characters to whom the mobs still give experience)

However, I have to add another quote from the same thread on 8/8/08...
Q: How does the bonus experience work?

Let's say we have Account A with a level 70 character, Account B with a level 1 character and Account C with another level 1 character, all three characters are grouped. Account B and Account C are linked, will they receive triple experience?

A: Bonus experience should only be granted if the experience is not trivial to anyone in the group. Our Quality Assurance Team is looking into reports that some of these restrictions are not consistent and hope to resolve the issue soon.
...noting that they've been saying this since the advent of RAF... so it will be patched "soon". However, it is not bannable exploit to utilize this bugged method of boosting until it is patched -- just don't cry to me if 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months from now in the middle of your boosting you all of a sudden lose your RAF bonus when grouping with a non-RAF-linked high level character.

I am currently playing on 2 accounts already so this is how is works:

    Account 1 = 80 boosting
Account 2 invites Account 3,4,5 for the RAF.

All 5 group up after level 10 or so and I have it?

You would have 300% experience on accounts 2, 3, 4 and 5 as long as the mobs were NOT trivial to any of those characters.

The mobs can be trivial to account 1.

That is, until the "bug" gets "fixed". Currently, though, you would get 300% experience. Just don't get sad if it gets taken away mid-boosting. They've been telling us they're going to remove this functionality for months and months now.
