Default Your Thoughts on Lock+Paly Dual Boxing Combo?

I have a main lvl 80 gnome Demo Lock waiting at the pub in Dalaran. Meanwhile gonna dual box 2 new toons (my first ever self R-A-F! Woot!) to offer my main some fun in PvP later on. So these 2 new toons are smack fresh lvl 1's. I am curious to know your thoughts on a Lock/Healadin Paly combo?

Good times? or any future problems I might come across?

Or if you have any other suggestions what works with a Demo Lock, can you share

PS: Couldn't find much info on WIKI here regarding this combo. Does that mean it isn't a good combo idea?

Lock / pally works fine. I would main the Pally tho and drag the lock around while lvling. Locks require so little healing while leveling or grinding that you would probably kill faster with the Pally Ret with the Lock following him spamming shadow bolt since DoTs wouldnt get to run their course before the mobs were dead.

If you want two lvl 80 locks then stick with what you want but if not I would switch out the lock with a shadow priest or druid and spec them both for DPS and have them follow the lock around and DPS but keep the lock topped off in health and mana. *shrug*.

Guess it all depends what your end goal is.. PvP or PvE.

i would switch the roles around. pally leads with lock assisting with dps. hard to heal midfight, but i doubt that will be your main concern.

Thats what I'm running right now and it works great. I have the pally as my main. I have a holy light macro set up for the pally and the lock, and I just click heal the voidwalker.

So far it has worked out really well. The voidwalker has no problem keeping aggro, and with Glyph of the Voidwalker he has amazing hp. I also use a cast sequence macro for the lock. I have one button assigned to all his dots, than end it with his wand.

I never even thought of that! I def am such a button masher, lol. I get the job done though, lol, but damn, this sounds waaaaaay cooler than my One spell per key on the keyboard. I definitely learn something new from you guys here daily! I need to google me some multi-spell macros.

OK about my dual box setup... I'm so attached to my Main Demo Gnome Lock that I want him to have a twin Lock + one other class. The other class will mainly be support for my two lock (My Main Lock will always be up, once I get every toon to 80). I have to admit, come endgame, I have found PvP to keep me interested in WoW. I love PvE only during lvling. So dual boxing is my PvP dream come true.

I hear you guys with making the Paly the main. I wonder how that will be for me as a caster player. I know the Demo Lock mechanics so well, since I have only played a Lock since I first picked up wow (Jan 2007), and this is my first Dual Box expereince coming up, so my own ignorance is what I believe will make me have either a great time doing this or a bad one. I hope the former! So any new class to me is like a new game entirely.

A Druid sounds tempting too. Because I never had a bear tank, and my friends always ask me, "lvl a Tank, pleaaaaaase!" Because they say I am a very patient kind of guy. But I have not done so at all. They all lvl DPS classes and have alts up the wazoo. I have not told them about me dualboxing yet, and I am gonna surprise them all once I have my new toons 80. I bet they will flip out! LOL.

Thank you for your ideas, guys. You are helping me decide what to do. I have a few weeks before I return to WoW again and start R-A-F.

Go with a combo you think will be fun.

Any DPS with any healer will be a viable combo.

My first ever main was a lock.

In BG's as an affliction lock I was pretty hard to kill (apart from rogues).
When I was lucky enough to find a healer running with me I was able to defend graveyards against far superior numbers.

This was pre wotlk and pre patch 3. A long time before.

There wasn't the burst damage that we have now, but I guarantee you would still have fun.

Incidentally I would run the warlock as the main and use the pally as a pocket healer.
Warlocks are one of the easiest classes to solo - with a healer and lifetap your down time will be minimal.
Macro up healing the warlock, and healing the pet so you dont waste time having to click on the voidy/felguard.

If you want any macros for warlocks - or advanced ways of playing definitley go to wowmb.net (the warlocks den).
I played to level 45 on my lock before discovering the warlocks den. Then realised I had no clue about how to play my class properly.
(for example I never ever lifetapped - I actually thought - "If the mob is killing me, why would I want to help him by reducing my health. I also never used a soulstone as I didn't see the point when I could just run back from a graveyard. DOH!!!!)

As to levelling a druid. Do it. You won't regret it. Especially if you are RAFing.
Druids are dull until 20. Most other classes you know you wil enjoy playing the class long before you hit 20.
Druids you can't decide until well after 20.

My only regret about levelling the druid is that I didn't do it sooner. (And I'm RAFing up a second one, so I can have one feral cat and one boomkin).
Team: Feral Druid, 3 Ele Shaman, 1 Resto Shaman

    Gimp Team: 4 paladins(13) and a DK(80)
    Kierlay,kierlee,kieree,kierla and Karatesh

Nice, Shaeman! Read your advice. Did you do 2 Locks at same time too? Sounds like fun in your BG exp with another player following you.

I will get macros for my Lock form that website you gave. Thanks for the help.

I was curious, when someone dual boxes Warlocks, how does he manage fear on both toon? How does he make one Lock toon fear macro the enemy target and the other Lock toon target another enemy target and they both do fear on 2 seperate peeps? That would be a hillarious scenario if possible.

ok gonna try to answer two of your questions.

    1. why pally lead? because pallies are awesome at holding aggro and not dying. why warlock follow? because the warlock can dot up everything the pally has picked up and never pull aggro. this will not give you trails of bodies. this will give you piles of bodies at various intervals. healing is quickly done in between pulls. you might have issues with casters, but i find it best to make the caster your last target. pull all the melee mobs to the caster and then consecrate, ret aura, judge, auto attack. every mob should get a corruption and a curse or siphon life and you're done. pulls should be at least with four mobs unless you have no choice. no less or you're wasting your time.

    2. as far as having two locks with two fears, there's several ways to do this, all of which have been discuss in these forums. i know, its kinda hard to search that. but just letting ya know!
    here goes macros:
    lock1: /castsequence fear,
    lock2: /castsequence , fear

    or...
    lock1: /cast [nomod] fear
    lock2; /cast [mod] fear

i prefer the modifiers over the castsequence. include target parameters to fit your targeting method.

Muah hahaha!!!! Thanks for those macros. I know the search here is filled with massive info and I am only hindered by my own laziness. LOL! But I know I will shape up and start digging deeper into this website. It's inevitable.

As for the Paly being Lead. I guess I am so used to my Lock's mechanics that I don't want to confuse myself too much. Cuz once the Paly and 2nd Lock are 80. I will relegate the Paly to 3rd place, and my 2 Locks will play side by side (Gummy & Dummy: lol, 2 gnomes - I know ME=Dork!). That Paly will be played only for assistance to my main Lock.

Thank you for the help guys.

playing a lock, i would hate a pally as a follower simply because i will not stand still long enough to let him heal.
on the other hand, if it was a druid or priest with a heal over time spell, i can go on forever.
