    Default A new FTL system - utilizing /click

    I'm not sure if this system is going to be better or worse than other suggested systems. I personally like it because it's extremely quick to change assist targets and play solo.

    Brief summary

    1.) Create one targeting macro:

    //Targeting macro
    /target [mod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Strong,[nomod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Curiously,[mod:rctrl,nomod:ralt]Someotherguy

    2.) Instead of including targeting in the spell macros, just reference clicking the button of the targeting macro

    //Wrath
    /click BT4Button16;LeftButton
    /assist
    /cast Wrath

    //Healing Touch
    /click BT4Button16;LeftButton
    /cast Healing Touch

    Note: I used BT4Button16;LeftButton as an example of how someone using Bartender would set up the system... it took me a bit to figure it out so I'm saving someone some time, hopefully. If you don't use bartender then just reference whichever slot your targeting macro is in.

    What this does is separate the casting from the targeting. If instead of using a pure FTL system you'd rather use a system like Ellay has recently presented, then just put that system in in target macro. I believe what I have presented above cleans up our macros and makes them both readable and easily changeable.

    One nice feature is the flexibility you have to change things very quickly. If you use different group compositions, then just have a different target macro for each. When changing teams all you have to do is put the new target button in the spot that is called for targeting, and keep the old one in another spot for switching back later on.

    For example, usually I will have:
    //Targeting macro
    /target [mod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Strong,[nomod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Curiously,[mod:rctrl,nomod:ralt]Someotherguy

    However, if I would rather use different toons on the same accounts, then maybe I would instead use:
    //Targeting macro
    /target [mod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Strongstwin,[nomod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Anotherhealer,[mod:rctrl,nomod:ralt]Owltoid

    Now all I have to do is put the targeting macro in spot "BT4Button16;LeftButton" and it will use my new targets. When I want to go back to my other group all I have to do is put the original target in the spot "BT4Button16;LeftButton"

    When playing solo either nothing needs to be changed, or just move the target macro away from spot "BT4Button16;LeftButton" and it will be clicking on a blank button every time (please note that I use "BT4Button16;LeftButton" but everyone else will likely have their target spot in a different location).

    Please note that I have not yet down extensive testing of the system. I will be implementing it tonight and likely give feedback tomorrow. In my brief testing everything worked well. However, I have not tried /castsequence, /castrandom, etc. I have only tried /cast.

    I have at least a month in on this type of system and really love it; I use /click to replace any type of repetitive task. In combination with macaroon it gets really powerful

    I run a 3 box team (priest,druid,shaman) with a bunch of friends that run either solo, or 2 box so I am constantly changing leaders. Since I require a dialing wand to type I decided to make up several macros as follows

    Druid Macro 1:
    /target [nomod,nodead,exists] Tank; [mod:alt,nodead,exists] Priest; [mod:alt,nodead,exists]Shaman

    Druid Macro 2:
    /target [mod:alt,nodead,exists] Priest; [mod:alt,nodead,exists]Shaman

    Then when I enter a group with my friends I just put the appropriate macro into my predefined "assist" button

    I also do this with follow, damage, totems.

    So my Druid's Dps macro would look something like

    /click MacaroonButton1 (targeting)
    /assist [harm]
    /click MacaroonButton2 (dps)
    /stopmacro [harm]
    /say Targeting %T a friendly on DPS Macro

    This allows me to visually confirm which macros I am running and change them out quickly.

    I've done pretty extensive testing this weekend and I'm happy to say that the FTL system utiliziing /click for easy changes in group composition works well.

    A few comments:

    1.) I use shift as a modifier to spells. The FTL system seemed to breakdown when trying to include rshift in the FTL definitions when combining with macros that were called through shift. I know use ralt, lalt, and rctrl for my FTL modifiers which leaves shift for spells.

    2.) I use mouseover healing and have not thoroughly tested this system use in targeting friendly units.

    My two target macros:

    When using the priest, moonkin, moonkin, pally, shaman group:
    /targetexact [mod:lctrl,nomod:ralt]Grouser;[mod:lctrl,mod:ralt]Owltoîd;[mod:rctrl,nomod:ralt]Owltoïd;[mod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Stróng;[nomod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Curiously

    When using the moonkin, moonkin, moonkin, pally, shaman group:
    /targetexact [mod:lctrl,nomod:ralt]Owltoìd;[mod:lctrl,mod:ralt]Owltoid;[mod:rctrl,nomod:ralt]Owltoíd;[mod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Stróng;[nomod:rctrl,mod:ralt]Curiously

    Eventually I'll have a target macro setup for my 5x moonkin group

    An example spell macro is:
    /click BT4Button120;LeftButton
    /assist [noharm]
    /castrandom Wrath, Wrath, Starfire

    For follow:
    /click BT4Button120;LeftButton
    /follow

    I can't remember why I need the [noharm] and that may have been included when I was trying to fix the shift-modifier problem (in other words it may not be needed anymore and may actually be screwing up helpful spells, but since I use mouseover healing I haven't really screwed around with it).

    I pretty much do something similiar to this because I have a Prot Pally, DK, Shammy on my main account that I log on/off to the group for various things, and I actually don't need to change anything because of the similiar names and a few added lines here and there to my macros for targetting the new chars.

    Ah, I never viewed that thread. I was confident others were using this system, but since i hadn't seen any threads I wasn't sure if it's mainstream. I like the one button for targeting and many buttons for spells referencing the targeting button position. It works well and is quickly changed for different group combinations!

    That's why I love it, for very quick group set ups, and when you change your specs or anything else you can just load your default configuration again and place your spells where you want. It ends up being very modular.

    Whoa! I must have missed something or just been blind, but wow can distinguish between left and right alt and ctrl? Can it do that with shifts as well? This just freed up a hell of a lot of keys for me since I thought I only had a single of each for my FTL.

    Thanks for this tidbit!
