WotLK - Utgarde Pinnacle (UP) - Skadi the Ruthless

I posted this because I kept seeing stories about how nightmarish this gauntlet is.

Granted, with gear and skills, this gauntlet is cake anyways,
but this is by far the easiest way that I know of.

I used this strat last night on Skadi and it only took me 3 tries to beat him.

I tried normal way and I just got ahead of myself and died almost instantly when he came down.

The second try I attempted to tank everything at the back after reseting. LOL that didn't work out too well at all.

My third try I took my time when I made it to the end and did harpoons way better, and when skadi came down no adds were up so it made life so much easier.

Tank and Spank after that

First time I ever beat him. Also beat King on my 2nd try. I wasn't able to deal with the burst from the intial attempt and my tank fell when he was on the last boat. (Melee buff one I think)

You can take as much time as you want without worries of getting shot in the head with the white stuff.

Would that be the Skaadi money shot? :P

But I agree, this looks like a good strat, seeing as Blizz does like to put environmental things in for us to use. Strafing just never worked very well for me. The delays I always got is was more like I was just dragging my team sideways instead of strafing.

I totally own this encounter now. The frost damage etc was never the problem for it it was getting everything timed right so no adds were up or I was just killing the next set as Skadi came into the harpoon place. Last night I did it with both adds still up and owned Skadi in like 20 seconds...lol

Yeah my shammies are getting geared now, and I actually do it with my DK as tank now not my pally. I'm sure my pally could do it, but things die so much faster with a DK its not even funny anymore.

Hmm if your shamans are considered overgeared for this encounter and you blast through it, I should try it. Never been to UP heroic but my shamans are geared quite a bit better than yours so I would guess it would be super easy. Will put this on my list of things to try, even though I don't think theres any good rewards from this dungeon (except the blue protodrake) for me.

Just kidding. Now I am feeling challenged to go do this encounter again, however I did it with my new DK tank (who's got some pretty good gear now) in a PUG . Oh wait, that's right we wiped 3 times because feraloldruid couldnt stay out of the damn frost and no one knew how to shoot harpoons. I felt the 4th time we could have done it, after beating it in their heads what to do, but the healer d/c'd and didnt come back. *Note, while the healer was really good, he often would not notice to heal himself and thats why we wiped when I was tanking Skadi with no adds. PUGs are so dang phail =(

Why is it so hard for people to follow instructions?? I also did OK in a PUG and no one would run from the 3 fireballs and would yell at healer when "he didnt heal them" while they were stunned by boss. I explained that one like 10 times and yet it still happened. LOL
