    The only psychologically important levels for me are 40 (mounts, yay... though 30 may take on a greater significance in the future!) and 58 (Outland, yay!).
    Sort of like age.
    13 yay i am a teenager
    16 yay i have zits and can drive
    18 yay no more zits and i can vote for Bush
    21 yay now i can legally drink
    65 yay now i don't have to work and can play wow 3

    I like the number 25 so i am 25 until i am 65 :P (well the truth is last year i got into a huge fight with the wife (gf at the time) about my age. I was like i'm 25 and she was like No your 26, and i was like no i'm 25... Then i realized that i was 26, the sad part was that i actually thought i was 25 not trying to hide my age, but really 25, i didn't like that so i am 25).

    If you are a father and when your daughter hits 14 your like shit she can get pregnant (sad how it is different from when i was growing up ;( )

    There is a mathmatical formula for XP from mobs.

    Its like Current level x2 + 5 or something. I figured it out once.

    Non-elite, same level, non-rested.

    Once you get to Outlands, same level mobs = x2 the XP from same level azeroth mobs.
    Early on, if I remember correctly, you get 50 XP/kill at level 1, and it goes up by 5 XP per level for equal level mobs. I seem to remember keeping track of this until level 10 or so, and I'm not sure if the formula is static or altered as you gain levels.

    Based on level 1-10, the formula would be 50+(level -1)*5.
    Level 1 = 50 XP
    Level 5 = 70 XP
    Level 10 = 95 XP
    Level 20 = 145 XP
    Level 30 = 195 XP
    Level 40 = 245 XP
    Level 50 = 295 XP
    Level 60 = 345 XP
    Level 70 = 395 XP

    Does this look right? I rarely ever look at what XP I'm getting per kill in solo play..

    I'm big into crafting (even though I feel WoW's crafting system is pathetic - useless for the most part), so I take a lot longer to level. My team at 56 has over 8 days /played now, but all gathering professions are 300/300, and have all crafting professions except engineering up to at least 260 or so. Jewelcrafting is a beast.. forgot how much I hate farming ore to prospect.

    I tend to look at levels in increments:
    10 = start getting talents, professions to 150.
    20 = professions to 225.
    30 = usually a good offensive skill or two.
    35 = professions to 300.
    40 = mount.
    50 = 41 point talent, professions to 375.
    60 = epic land mount.

    I am a big fan of tracking progress and seeing ways to improve leveling times. I take a screenshot whenever I level and when I work I track total progress if I am bored. Anyway if I total up my hours to 70 and cut it in half, my mid point is 56.5. Results may vary.

    I take a screenshot whenever I level
    I've got a mod that does that for me - Ding Recorder, I think it's called. I'm being forced to go out for beer now so I can't look it up, but it's quite fun looking back at the screenies and seeing where I leveled. It includes a /played time too, which is quite snazzy.

    25 is also a good milestone because your car insurance rates go down.

    And, as the father of a 14 y/o daughter, biologically she was able to get pregnant a couple of years earlier - which, quite honestly is VERY scary. Fortunately at almost 15 she has just started thinking that boys might be interesting. Which is kind of late compared to some of her friends but still has me dulling my spoons in preparation for the inevitable boyfriend coming over.

    Back on topic, When TBC came out there was a huge jump in the XP curve both in terms of XP to level and XP rewarded from mobs and quests. XP from mobs and quests 20-60 has been increased. I wonder if there will be another large jump in the curve again with WoTLK? I wonder how long it will be before the 60-70 grind will be shortened?

    Nasty thread for me atm.

    Why?

    My toons are 37 now and I am SICK of SM. The thought of even grinding the last three planned levels there is de-motivating. So, to think I'm less than half way by some of the measures in this thread is .... a bummer.

    That said, this isn't my first rodeo and simply leaving SM will be a breath of fresh air. I still wish I had a good plan for levels 40 to 45 to get to the Hinterlands and beyond kill quest run.

    Oh well, its the journey not the destination right? :S

    Try running 2 teams at once though sm from 20-40. Talk about SICK, got so bored that i made really stupid mistakes and my rogue with pvp epics almost dieing. If you are power lvling try ZF. Did that from 40-45. In scholo now, first room takes about 14-15 minutes to clear and get 2 bars at lvl 52. So 6 bars an hour might not be the best but my dawn rep will be exulted when i am at 55.

    If it's not fun, don't do it. Run a zone of quests and I think you'll be surprised at how quickly the xp rolls in. After ZF, I only ran Mara once for the Thrash Blade and have quested the last few levels. 8-10k XP in easy chunks is nice when you've got 6-8 quests to turn in at a time. Questing has been a nice break from instance running, and I was able to farm mats easier while questing too.

    A thread I've marked as a favorite is Horde Hinterlands - A Multiboxers Questing Nirvana.

    From that thread I'd mapped out my leveling approach as follows:

    1-12'ish: Newbie quest grind
    12 - 38'ish: Boost in instances
    38 - 45: ??
    45-46 Hinterlands
    46-48 Searing Gorge
    48-50 Felwood
    50 Western Plaguelands
    55 Eastern Plaguelands
    58 Winterspring
    58 Silithus
    58+ Outlands
    I've modified my thinking to stay in SM Cath from 38 to 40.

    The big gap in my plan is what to do until 45. A suggestion was to continue my boosting in ZF.

    Anyone have a good sense of kill quest heavy suggestions to bridge 40 to 45 to break up instance boosting?
