Default Lag on only one character?

    Hey there,

Is anyone experiencing anything similar? I play 4 characters, all with identical add-ons, and will get random lag spikes/DCs at odd times of the day (mornings, for example) but only on one of my 4 characters. And it's not always the same one. Additionally, there isn't a set time of day where this appears to be happening. It's just that sometimes I lag terribly and then DC. I get that char logged back in, and another one DCs.

I don't remember any similar issues from when I boxed previously (shortly before LK came out).

I'm keeping all applications to a minimum while playing, with special regards to anything that would use the internet.

My best guess is the same reason I lose /follow on some of my chars at random times as well.

You might be losing data packets being sent from your connection. Its not alot but even missing just one will cause the lag you speak of.

I still have times where one of my boxes ( I run 5 from one comp) will be Red Lat and the rest are Green and are <40ms.

...used to get DCd all the time and then went windowed-mode (running all five clients on one pc). I have my main fill the screen in windowed-mode and the others "hidden" behind at 800x600 (windowed-mode). Try it. See if it helps.

I've had 1 character (usually my tank) lag out while the other 4 clients work just fine (including showing my lagging character running in place). I have no idea what causes it or how to fix it, but um... you're not alone.

Is it connection/server lag or localized?

Sounds like you might need to tune down settings maybe, or assign cores properly. If only one lags it is probably your own pc that lags. Should be able to test it by setting all video settings to minimum and lower maxfps (20) and maxfpsbk (10) for all wow's.

If the lag persists even then, then I don't know.

I've got 4 clients running independently on 4 different cores. My main window runs everything a little higher, but my 3 slave clients are all about as low as they can go.

The thing is, I've upgraded my pc significantly since I quit wow before LK came out and didnt' experience this then. I think it may be increased server lag, especially since a friend of mine also suffers from random DCs and I see people in trade complaining about lag, but of course Blizzard isn't admitting to anything, so it's hard to tell.

I'll see if I can lower things further, but I'm at a loss as to what it could be. It's just very bizarre that it's only ever one client at a time that DCs, and it varies as to which one it is.

Hmm, I once did a 25 sartharion run and had like 120 or so disconnects during the process, randomly on any of my chars. Eventually just leaving three logged off and continueing with one.

Afterwards I realised windows was downloading updates. :P

This might not be the same you're experiencing though. Probably not, but maybe worth checking if you don't ave any programs downloading updates or maybe even a trojan stealing your bandwidths. :P

...Just throwing in some ideas as I'm also quite at a loss as to what your problem maybe. Hope you track it down anyhow.

    i've seen this as well.
if you are using Jamba, make sure you have disabled all comments from being broadcast . ( only notify you if someone isn't following )
In my chat log ( not sure whether combat log or what ) was being filled up with comments sent by Jamba for 5 minutes after each fight. ( like spell isn't ready, so & so isn't targeting , etc )

this seemed to help quite a bit, however it didn't eliminate all lag.

I play 5 accounts on one machine and have also seen this. It's very rare though, and hasn't happened in a while now. It appears that a window (I always run in windowed mode) just freezes up for a minute or two but would come back afterwards just fine. Sometimes it gets disconnected, but more often it recovers. All the other windows are just fine while this happens.

I haven't really determined what causes it, but it doesn't appear to be the PC directly. I suspect it is tied to something more like packets being lost, as already mentioned above. I'm using a cable modem which is sufficient for bandwidth on 5 simultaneous accounts. Watching the system performance doesn't raise any eyebrows, but I'll have to check the application error log to see if maybe something was caught behind the scenes.

Edit: In response to Catamer... In my case, it occurred before I even starting using Jamba, and haven't noticed a difference with Jamba. I do have all the message forwarding disabled because I just don't need it all sent to my tank, though I do leave /whisper forwarding enabled, because most people tend to talk to one of my alts.

Does Jamba default to sending all messages?

If that's the case, I haven't disabled it and that may be part of the issue. I'll try that next time I log on.

I went to Dalaran for the first time this morning. On one of my characters the walls and floors dissapeared. In fact, everything disapeared except for anything that can be interacted with (objects, people, portals, etc) and I could see everything in the town at once. On that characters screen, I was stick running in place and couldn't move. On th other screens the character was just standing there. No disconnect though, and I couldn't log off. I had to just exit the app and reopen it.
