I don't advise removing the side of your box as a cooling option. Today's systems are designed for specific airflow across components that heat up. Removing the side of the case can disrupt this air flow and leave components w/o proper cooling. Also if you built this machine yourself you may want to look into how all your fans are blowing and check cables and cords for air-flow obstruction.
