To check temperatures I suggest HWMonitor. It is free, small download and gives you all the temperatures you need, well except for RAM, but not sure if there is an application that does that.

Not good to mix different kinds of ram (even from same company and even if it seems its allowed).
Graphic Card cooling what I do is I get the heatpipe type (no fan) and put a Zalmann this thing with 130 size TT fan right above it so I get max cooling and little noise:
http://tech.vault9.net/forums/Zalman...ew-t22407.html
I use TT Typhoon fan above processor:
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Produc...C=1151&ID=1833 (this is the one I would use if I doing system now), its not for your chip but they make a nice one also.
Then just get a Power Supply with 140 fan, and put a 120-130 fan blowing into your drives and yur covered.
What ram do you have:

There is even timing differences between some of those ....

Your "C8" and "C9" have different timings. Not a good thing. Sell the C8 and get the C9 ....
Also Silencer has stated that at 12G boards are not yet stable, you might want to wait for bios upgrades or just run with 6G for now until things sort themselves out. 12G I7's right now are not perfect, even though the MB manufacturer claims "24G compatability".
What I noticed with XP is: if you put your computer in Stand By at night you will crash sometime the next day. I used to crash all the time on 4 of my 5 comps. I started really shutting them down and stopped crashing.

I have seen this a few times. a complete lockup of one or more characts but not all of the characters.
they would sometimes free up after 10-20 seconds. Sounds like what you are seeing.
This seem to start after the last bliz patch or maybe the one before and seemed to go away after all of my addons got caught up to the new release.
I have not seen the complete lockup in a while now but I do see massive FPS drop outs on only one or two accounts.
my current theory is that it is one of my addons but I haven't been able to prove which one does it.
I know if I disable all of my addons I seem to run better, however that leaves my system unusuable (imo) because really depend on some of my addons.

Different video cards, but similar type of symptom. I use dual ATI Radeon HD3850 video cards, and the PC would seem to freeze up randomly when I played WOW. I installed RivaTuner and increased the fan speed, thinking it was overheating as well.
Long story short, it turned out that under Vista my video cards were running at about 285 MHz clock speed, when they were designed to run at 825 MHz. I manually tuned the clock speeds on each GPU (2 GPUs x 2 cards) and the problems went away.
Just something else to look for. Make sure your video cards are running at the specs they were designed for.
Edit: Just saw your video cards in your last post. Our cards are almost identical, so I would definitely pay attention to the clock speeds in the RivaTuner monitor.

I don't advise removing the side of your box as a cooling option. Today's systems are designed for specific airflow across components that heat up. Removing the side of the case can disrupt this air flow and leave components w/o proper cooling. Also if you built this machine yourself you may want to look into how all your fans are blowing and check cables and cords for air-flow obstruction.
I right now have went back to my old computer. since i have been working alot and come home to late to be able to call store i bought my computer hardware from.
anyways for some reason my ATI CCC seems to crash after each installation stops working.
So i been running stress tests on it while i played with my old computer.
It just reboots every now and then when its beeing stress tested. Bootde up with Ultimate boot cd but i still cannot find out exact what cuases the reboots.
When booting with the boot cd im kinda in linux mode and not even inside any windows OS.
Something is faulty.
Ive given up tewaking fixing now first of all i will try to get the motherboard & grahpic card replaced or atleast send it back to where i bought em for testing. Ive spent far to much time on a brandnew computer.

Sounds like the problems I had with my new pc, so I'll share my knowledge in the hope that this helps you. If its the same problem as I had, then you're looking at the "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" crash.
http://www.google.nl/search?hl=en&q=...22&btnG=Search
These crashes are caused by the motherboard not being able to run the memory with the settings that are specified by the memory module. To fix the problem, you'll have to manually tweak the memory timings and memory, north bridge and south bridge voltages (in my case slightly increasing the NB and SB voltage fixed the problem). Since you're using corsair memory, I'd suggest contacting Corsair tech support at
http://houseofhelp.com
They should be able to give you the memory settings you need to get the memory working with your motherboard. If it is the problem I mentioned, sending the video card, motherboard or memory back for testing will probably turn up nothing. This is because the problem doesn't seem to occur if you run the pc under optimal conditions (unlike running it at home where there might be interference on the power lines, bad grounding, etc).
I have a story about Vista64 and Windows7 x64 not working well. Sick back its a story of frustration and finally giving up.
The story starts with my first computer with the following components:
Before my upgrade to vista 64 everything worked PERFECTLY with this system. I decided on a whim that I wanted to go to a 64 bit OS and move up my memory to 8GB because it sounded cool. So I bought the extra memory and got my retail x64 disk out and installed. Immediatly I started to run into problems where I would get the error message that my video card stopped responding (Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered). This would sometimes happen while not using the video card at all, other times while playing wow which would result in a freeze up requiring me to end task on it. Following the advice of some threads i tried older drivers, default drivers and latest drivers. All with either worse or same effect.Code:Windows Vista 32 Quad Core 6600 4GB Memory Nvidia 8800 GTX
At this point I downloaded the NVIDIA diagnostic and testing plugin and went about trying to run the stability test, which it failed everytime. So im getting upset and figure i wanted to spend some more money so I ended up getting a brand new motherboard and a NVIDIA 265. I install the hardware and it did the same thing on fresh install. At this point im getting angry so I get the Windows7 beta and install it. At this point everything is running better BUT wow still freezes and occasioanlly blue screens my computer with nvidia driver errors. So after duplicating troubleshooting steps as with Vista 64 (this time with the new hardware) i gave up and moved back to 32 bit. I also setup a 2nd computer using the origonal motherboard/videocard that started this adventure running on Vista32.
Basically the summary is this:
with 2 different video cards, 2 different motherboards and different memory windows 64 did not remain stable and windows 32 bit did. All hardware is completly 64 compliant and worked some of the time. Its a shame, im sitting on 8 GB of memory and i can only use about 3 and a half. Neither cards were overclocked, neither cards overheating. I monitored both cards temp the whole time remaining within safe boundries. I think 64 bit windows OS's have problems with graphic cards, i've read about problems with both ATI and Nvidia drivers (For some people tho, no problems at all). You must need some magical hardware combination to make it work, so if you find none of these other steps provided by other work, you might be in my boat.

So solution was...
The Domintaor memorys they sold me when i upgraded to 12 gig did not work together with Classic ones.
Removed them stress tested 72/h worked just fine. So they caused serious wierd error , rebootings and freezing.
Now im back in business with my computer and am very happy with it.
Cheers,
