Default Anyone found a non clunky spec for DK's?

Wondering if anyone has found a nice spec for DK's that 'feels' smooth, so far everything I've tried has been in the meh department, it just doesn't run fluid enough - logging back on my Shamans feels like night and day in the enjoyable realm.

I don't know if that is a matter of spec so much as the fact that runes are easy to dump and have a decent cool down.

I utilize a strange mixture of Blood/unholy to maximize passive DPS as well as take advantage of the healing of blood. It is designed as a leveling build.

I suggest getting getting the ghoul first, obviously with the glyph as this helps speed leveling up tenfold. It is so nice not to have to worry about finishing off regular mobs. In fact, I usually just run through hitting mobs once and then they die.

Typical rotation is a round robin cast deathgrip on one with the others casting icy touch, by the time the first white hit comes down the mob is already dead or very close, rinse and repeat. Basically you have a 35 sec cooldown on deathgrip, divide it by five and you can pull mobs every 7 seconds and never worry. In practice this basically extends to infinity. AOE is 5 D&D, with IT/PS/Pest and HS hits two targets. Elite/boss fights utilize gargoyle, vampiric blood, icebound fortitude, and mark of blood (don't use all five at once because it is a waste). Rotate which character is tanking every 20 seconds or so with taunt.

Last but not least runetap glyphed is a full heal every thirty seconds. This spec is not the ZOMG ultimate DPS spec, but I am out to level as quickly and efficiently as possible. If Multiboxxing for 4 years has taught me anything, its that micromanagement is a killer, the more passive all of your abilities, the better you will be and the more fun you have.

I love the DKs in a different way than the shamans. They are great for dailies/questing/world stuff. They are a ton of fun in wintergrasp. Shaman are good raiding, heroics, and battlegrounds. They are also GODS in wintergrasp (I have the entire horde spitting on me in Dalaran). Its a matter of preference. In fact, I have two sets of DK's on different servers, Have the second set to 77 on my Shaman's server (Silverhand) and I will probably play them full time from now on when they hit 80.

A few parting words for people not used to DK's or melee classes. Every damage ability that you macro must have included in it start attack and follow. I also include !runestrike so that it always autocasts whenver it is up (not on the GCD). Unlike shamans, keep moving and the faster you kill the more dmg you will do. You can basically never die with Blood Aura, so live it up...

Good luck Ellay and the rest of you..

I thought about this build at 80

Obviously you can move some of the talents around, but what I was really after were bone shield and blood worms + aura. You would be very difficult to kill with this combo, however you dont dish out that much damage either =(

When I rolled my DK team, I had planned on a 32/3/36 build, however, when I played my first DK solo to 76, I was almost pure Unholy, with the tiniest splash of blood and I loved it. I never had issues with healing. But, what's good for normal PvE and what's good for attempting heroics are two different things. I'm torn at the moment, my heart says unholy, my head says hybrid.

Right now I am Frost and love Icy Touch / Howling Blast combo, the problem is I have 0 reason to use Plague Strike and I hate using a Blood Strike because it wastes a GCD, but I need it for a death rune. I don't like to have to wait for death runes to pop up to become more effective. So there is the probelm, I don't want to go through a complete rotation of Obliterate x2 and Blood Strike x2 so I can have 6 death runes to utilize as Frost.

    It's frustrating

But this is all based on Proccs. Can be variated of course ^^

I heard that Gargoyle and the AoE (51 pt Unholy) are changing place in 3.1
So Frost/ Unholy would be nice too.

Haven't played more than one DK, but test it if I'm with all @ 55

This is my spec i love it. I get ghoul each gets corpse explode plenty of dps and healing. Lets see what else the death runes are a must considering i use death strike all the time for added healing.
They say spiders have 8 legs well i guess im a rare and unimaginable specimen. Ive got 9 legs and my web comes from that 9th leg. HaHa.
