New to MB: Should I 2 or 3 box RAF?

Helo all!

I've been reading the forums for a few days now and had a question for the group. I'm completely new to MB, and I saw a few posts on RAF. This is something that I totally want to do, but I want to maximize my time. Because of RL responsibilities, I only have 8 or so hours I can play each week.

I have existing toons in my main account that I want to do the "grant level" thing for, and if I 3-boxed it with 2 RAF accounts, I'd have plenty of grant-able levels to get my 3 alt toons to 60 (35 Shammy, 40 Rogue, 24 Priest). My main question is this: with money (game purchases, subscriptions) not a limiting factor, is the learning curve on 3-boxing vs 2-boxing such that I should opt to 2-box first to learn, or is it really not a big jump? ?(

Also if I three box, I'd do Pally + Resto Druid + X DPS. What would be a good complementary DPS class?

hey welcome.

im guessing you're not going to be "boosting" your RAF.
and its not a big jump from 2 to 3. now, if you're doing 5 with the 1 tank, 3 dps and 1 healer, that will be a big jump.
but with 3, i suggest a tank-like main and two dps who can heal as well. having the two slaves as the same class can really help simplify things.

Pally and 2 druids would defi be ok, good hybrids, many options incase you want to try out different specs/set ups.

A very nice combo to start with. And not overly complicated for a beginner either.

(however at 55, I would recommend going DK+2x druids. Imho. :P )

pally has decent aoe tanking ability.
druids have good mana regen and decent spells for balance as well as resto. do mostly balance with some resto.
get moonkin form for 5% spell crit buff. im sure the pally can benefit from this too.
in a bind, both moonkins can shift out and heal, reshift to moonkin and dps some more.
overall, you'll have great aggro holder, great dps, and a handful of healing options, not to mention rez for all. druids get an in-battle rez that's invaluable.

Alright, I got my 2 RAF accounts going. Currently doing main BE Paly + 2 Druid slaves.

Can I go buy the retail battle chest to get both the classic + TBC expansion for each account? Or is there a way to do this online?

IMO, buy the retail boxes. at least there, you will have the cd key to verify purchase right then and there. with online purchases, there have been problems in the past. also, you get physical discs in the event that something goes wrong. i guess that helps.

lastly, make one (or two) copies of your WoW folder and place it somewhere. this will be your launch for your slaves. its great for itemization of addons (if you want your main to run addons you dont want your slaves to run) and also keeps your settings separate. also, makes it easier to switch to single play.
