    @Bamaboy
if u notice the Problem is under Windows Vista u use XP there is no problem with that kind of tricks..
and even ur Way wont work under vista...
    ------------------------------------------------------------
To clarify, I am plugging both monitors via DVI into the same nVidia graphics card. I can extend the desktop (or clone the display) just fine using the built in nVidia tool.

What I can't do is "span" the display across two monitors. This is somewhat different than the extended desktop functionality. For example, using horizontal span mode on monitors with native resolution of 1680x1050, I could run a full screen game at 3360x1050 and treat both monitors as essentially one large display. Under XP, this option was available in the nVidia tool, and was called horizontal span mode. I no longer have this option in vista, and it seems that, for some reasons I don't completely understand, this option is no longer available in vista (as indicated by landis).

After a lot of googling, I can't find any software based solution to this. So it seems like this is just yet another case of vista somehow providing less functionality than XP, but I'd like to be sure before giving up on it.

    Nvidea answer:

Horizontal and Vertical span modes are no longer available under Windows Vista.

Due to architectural changes in the new Windows Vista Window Display Driver Model (WDDM), span mode cannot be supported in NVIDIA graphics drivers. NVIDIA recommends using the built-in Windows Vista multi-display modes.

Really I`m not anti Microsoft geek but after buying 2 22 inches monitor, new
HDD and Vista Ultimate 64bit and NVidia 280 card and after desperate search I found out
that horizontal span gone!!! You are joking. All cost me a lot of money and I
did it because of MSFS X and Dirext X X shit . All product legal and paid. What
    disappointment, Microsoft!

The DirectX bug is fixed in Vista.

You don't NEED to use horizontal span.

But if I want one big WoW window of resolution 3360x1050 spread over two monitors in Vista - is that possible in any way? I hope someone can help... I have set up the monitors with Dual View (no Horiz Span in Vista, as written elsewhere). But WoW does not give me the option of running at 3360x1050 - only at 1680x1050 (one monitor).

Dual view isn't optimal, but it works, and if your machine is fairly powerful, might not be too bad.

    Have you tried it?
No matter where you go, there you are.

hehehe i get 12 fps all high settings in dual view... fake span mode ( ultramon based) never tried with 1 monitor only ,, but in dual view i get 60fps all high farcry and BF2... so that shouldnt be a prob... and 30 fps 1 screen max is eastern plagueland ( vigils FP, so.. its not iron forge or anything..

no idea.. i SAW on the setup wizard i could span.. i did.. no change.. never see a 3200x1080 display anywhere......

Dual View does not give the option of running one big WoW window spread across 2 monitors... at least not with my Geforce 7900GTX (using Vista). Horisontal Span does not exist in Vista, I know that part.. so it's impossible to run WoW @ 3360x1050 in Windows Vista?

Nope, I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64 and i wish I hadnt. NO HORIZONTAL SPAN WTF. Why should you get LESS features with an upgrade? Makes NO sense.

I used to do it with NView on XP, but guess what, there's no NView support for Vista. I cant run two windows of WoW anymore because the framerate is horrible running dualview.

Why is there such a big difference in framerate between horizontal span and dualview anyway?
