Default Horizontal Span vs Dual View on nvidia

Hi - This is just an informational - I used to have a 24inch + 19inch in dual view, I went and bought another 24inch screen to match and I set them to Horizontal span. Nice. I setup keyclone maximiser to put 4 tiles on the right hand screen and run 1 instance of wow windowed outside of keyclone on the left. Running 5 instances of wow in ghostlands I'm getting framerates of 40-60fps...when I was in dual view I was getting 25max. All this on the specs below...not too shabby. Also my pc runs at 80% cpu.

Xzin: This gets a sticky for a while until it gets integrated into another guide or fixed in nVidia's drivers.

Well noted, people have been saying this for quite a while on the forums.

Basically Windows XP doesn't render DirectX very well across two screens.

its fixed in Vista though, so you can Dual-view and still get a good Frame-rate.

Stupid question: Does running WoW in OpenGL mode instead of D3D make any difference when using a dual-screen setup?

I'm fairly sure using WoW in OpenGL mode reduces your FPS No matter if you Dual-view or Horizontal view - Its just not that good :-(

Wuhu! (that describes just all 8) )

switched from dual-view to horizontal span and went from about 30FPS (on the slower machine with 3 wow's running, XP64) to 60-100FPS no lags in major city's anymore, thx alot!

    Another possible stupid question:

Do the screen sizes need to be the same for horizontal span or just the same resolution on both? I have a 24" and a 17" and when I span it the main screen (24") goes to crap resolution. I've been playing in dual mode which is ok since I am only running two accounts.

I have a 22 inch and 17 inch that I have setup on Dualview with a 8800GTX water cooled video card. I do not have the option of horizontal span unfortunately. How did you get that option to appear?

Personally i don't have any experience with 2 screens, so...

Atm I'm running 4 clints on 22" widescreen. Going to add a 5th from my main account later, but no way i'm going to cram 5 clients on 1 screen. As I'm running XP, what happens with the resolutions on horizontal span? Needs to be same? So do I need to get a widescreen atleast if not the same size?

I had this problem with my 7900's not showing horizontal span option. I just went to nvidia's website and downloaded updated drivers for my cards. Fixed the problem.
