and this is why your failing with heroics, it takes gear to do heroics and you need gear for pvp, dont get to upset that your not wipeing the floor with every challenge that comes your way.

still plenty of time to turn this all around. just get the gear for it
Not upset at all! Otherwise I wouldn't post here.
I was pretty upset after one of my shamans dipped down to about 22g in the pocket, from too many repair bills, but that was last night. Now I'm highly adjusted to how jacked up the power-gap between level 80 instances and the easiest heroic is.
With us, the multiboxer crowd, one wrong button means a wipe on a boss fight.
There are a lot more wrong buttons on a keyboard than right buttons. So with bosses other than Loken, I don't have anyone to blame.
I hate this part though - it was the same way with TBC. You have the absolute best gear from non-heroics, that means you're nowhere near ready to tackle heroics.
If I was able to clear every single instance non-heroic, wouldn't it make sense that I could at least take an unavoidable AoE hit from a boss? And what's up with me getting critted for 7.9k when my defense is at 559?
The last sentence is a result of me being a FAILUS MCFAILWAD FAILY FAIL FAILPANTS, nothing else.
They're called Heroic, because...they're hard? LOL There's a reason people are QQing about DPS on the WoW forums, every player who hits 80 heads right for a Heroic pug, when the progression is to get geared and gemmed and enchanted in normal runs to get to Heroics. I think Blizzards one big mistake in Wrath was removing the Heroic requirements, they could have made it a little easier, but no requirements means everyone is ignoring normal mode, because "it's not worth it". Learning your class is forgotten, too, so everyone is overgearing instances to make up for it. Not to insult, but you're kind of doing the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I get overambitious, and think that because I can nuke mobs outside of dungeons means I can do the same inside them, but the game proves me wrong pretty quickly. Yeah, i could take my 3 80's and try the first 5 man, get through some trash, but trust me, I know I'll wipe hard on the first boss - I don't have the gear to make up for missing 2 other players (and there's the fact that I don't have a tank or dedicated healer).

My team is soon to hit the crafted/ah/rep wall, and they're pulling 12-14k easily - entry level for Heroics, IMHO, but fine for normal runs, and there's lots of upgrades in normal I could use, along with the rep. I could pug them for instance gear, but honestly, I'm not much interested in that yet. When I can afford 5 accounts, then I'll get into that. I'm actually kind of looking forward to getting my DKs into BC, and rerunning that content. I don't know why, I just am, so that's my goal for the next month or so, along with finishing Icecrown with my 80's. That DK on the Alliance transport is keeping me pretty busy right now!

I'd say, forget Heroics for now, use normal runs to get your reps maxxed, make some cash, and learn the strategies better. You just hit 80, you have plenty left to do besides Heroics.

This is a great thread. It serves to make those of us who are still working on coordinating our teams feel better. When I hear some of the stories about "mistakes" or messups, I LOL and realize that I'm not alone and that it's all part of the fun. I just need to sit back and have a laugh at myself and the situations that come up. Like the time I had my latest duo out questing and stumbled across Stiches. I targetted him to confirm his level and without thinking, hit my assist and attack button. Needless to say, I got creamed. I sat there stunned, mumbling, "I cann't believe I just did that".

A while back in Howling Fjord I was trying to either get to a quest npc or a mining node on a small hill. My main made it up but the other 2 were stuck trying to ride up to the top. I hit the space bar and my priest and pally went flying over my head, passed me, turned to face me then fell down the other side of the cliff and died (epic land mounts and crusader aura, lol).

    Heh.

Reminds me of my early days as a young rogue, a couple of weeks after the game came out. A couple of horde, who would go on to be notorious on our server, came to Goldshire. They were some of the first Horde to make it there, and they were - holy crap - 60!

They danced with us a while, a few foolhardy Alliance dueled with them, and then they sat and we were doing the emote thing with them.

Being curious - rogue, remember? - I clicked on the Undead guy to inspect his gear.

He stood, spun to face me, loled, and before I could figure out what that little shield was on my portrait, *boom*!!!! Instagib.

That day, i learned the following:

How to flag and unflag for PvP
    What an HK was.
    You cannot inspect the Horde.

    Good times.

That player was very famous on our server, Dragonblight, I can't remember his full screen name, but the short version was Mal, and his real name was Ryan. I ran into him often after that, and always made a point to /bow and /dance with him, and he'd dance back. He later died in a car crash, and they held an enormous memorial for him at the ruined tower near Tarren Mill (he was a world PvP junky). His wife logged on, and made a small speech, and someone in his guild logged onto an Alliance character and passed the comments along. It was a seriously touching moment, and hundreds of players showed up - and there was no griefing or jerks doing anything disrespectful. His wife logged his character out, and for a long time that tower was known by a lot of players as Mal's Tower. Several players in my guild went with me, and we paid our respects, and the female guildie with us was bawling her eyes out on vent. It was very touching, and it was amazing how many Alliance players respected him. I know from talking to Horde players, he was one of those guys who played at 100% at all times, but would help anyone if asked.

That was the day I discovered there's good people playing this game. I've been losing that sense ever since, it was that kind of community that drew me into the game.

    Wow, that's totally offtopic!

I was full of fail yesterday. It was the first day I started doing heroics with my fresh 80 team. My mages only have 1060 spell damage and my druid healer has 1420 healing. The druid is geared ok I guess but my dps is pretty weak right now. My pally has 533 defense and about 24k health. He is ok but I wiped too many times to count on the instances I ran. I told myself to suck it up and keep trying until respawns. It took me awhile but I cleared gundrak, nexus, uk, drak except undead boss all heroic. Until my guys get better gear it's going to be tough. The last boss in nexus owned the shit out of my tank everytime she enraged. I cant remember how many times I wiped at 3%. She hits my guy for 10k a pop and I just cant heal through it. What I did was pop all my mirrors, elementals, and then tranquility after she enrages. Once I did that I was able to burn her. I will try again tomorrow and see if I can repeat the kill.

Now if these instances would drop some damn gear I can use besides shaman mail and hunter mail items. I swear thats all that dropped yesterday.

That, sir, was the point. Now I'm new to doing things with points, so good job catching it.
Yesterday I was reading in some mouthbreather forum somewhere about tactics on some heroic or other. "He's easy, just DPS him down. Don't let it go too long or you'll run out of mana"
If someone's having a hard time, I wanted to let them know they're not alone.
Yeah some days this is easy and you've got it all together. But even those days, The Game comes along sooner or later and lets you know that deep down you're just a level 1 hunter killing rats with your 0.9dps dagger.

    My biggest fail.

One of my first 5 man setups was a client on each computer. Problem was, one of the systems was upstairs. Every time I had to accept a quest, or click a dialog box for a group, rez, death, etc I had to run upstairs. I started to hate escort quests as much as collection quests. More than once I was not able to accept the escort quest fast enough.

Several times ive spent an hour plus getting to the bottom of an instance to loot someones head only to get to the quest turn in and find one or more toons had either forgotten to loot it, or failed because their bags have been full for the last week and I didnt notice.

PvP. Many times at lower levels my entire 5 man group is killed by a high level toon with one aoe spell.

    1) assumed the two year old would keep his hands to himself

I spent 40 minutes getting my new team to the gates of strat. While taking a whiz my 2 year old pushed F1 and hearthed everyone back home, lol.
