Thread: XP Gaps

  1. #1

    Default XP Gaps

Being somewhat OCD and fanatical about my new triple-Mage team (70 Lock, 70 Warrior for PLing them, plus a buddy is levelling a Paladin with me), I've been grinding on the one Mage I have that seems to die (he's the stupid one, apparently; he paths into lava and falls off of places) and miss XP. I'm trying to keep all three within 25 XP of one another, but it's rather hard to estimate gains.

Besides, it's easier to correct at the low levels versus later when a 10% difference in XP might mean quite a bit.

I just wanted to know if anyone else sees this as a big deal like I do.

I've been using the cloth turn in quests to try and close the gaps, or I'll do a single collection quest on the guy falling far behind.

I've tried keeping Team Doublemint within 50% of a level of each other.

Oddly you see some strange things in WoW... Playing Mage/Mage/Pally, all blood elves, I did the same quests on all three and killed everything as a team, no one ever died, etc... level 8 we were identical XP, we dinged level 9 on the same kill... and two of the three still matched, but the other was 15 xp off...

It all went to shit when I had to do the paladin quest for rez... since then, 50% has been my rule. If I fall behind due to deaths, missed quests, etc (Sometimes I get frustrated and walk away from a collection quest with 1 not finished) I log on an alt and grind the slacker til they catch up.

The error you saw is the server registering the kill and level up. Lag prevented the 3rd char from leveling at the "exact" time as the other two, and so it received credit for the kill "after" the other two had leveled resulting in sometimes a discount or addition to experience gained.

Do you think the person who started the group could get a fraction of more XP. I know its divided but what about the remainder XP. Because I know its not a even distribute if you get a mob that gives you 25xp that devided 3 ways does not work/ you get 8.3333333R

What if the .3xp is just getting added to the person who started the group?

I used to try to keep them all up around the same exp mark, but since they are all going to cap out at 70 anyway, I stopped caring.

I stopped caring several 4-man teams ago. :P While it's nice seeing them all ding together, it's so rare any more that I just don't bother.

My 5 shamans are from about 10-15% different from the highest to the lowest. I have one main my 70 and an "alt" main which the others follow at time that did die a bit more often do situation that resulted him from being a bit behind. I don't mind so much, beside, since none of them ding at the same time. I feel like I ding 4 times x 5 since they all pop up in all 5 screens. :P

General consenus is "forget it." I like that attitude.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled levelling.
