    Default Best 5 mage spec?

Could any of you mage multiboxers shed some light on the best spec to go with for a 5 box mage team? I torn at the moment, I know
fire is the best for damage, but with 5 mages, wouldn't some of that be wasted? So perhaps frost with it's added survivability is best?

    Cheers

I really like frost in mages. I have never dual boxed 5 mages.. To be honest im quite the noob to it. But my opinion would be frost if you want to level quickly. If you went fire(Single mob targeting is the speciality there) Then yes. there would probobly be 2-3 wasted fireballs at least per mob. ... I made a quick little 10-60 fire spec for a mage(see below).... To be honest I see a lot of advantages if you were solo.. But in a group of 5 i would suggest frost... For frost you get the Ice Barrier which is great for survivability, and with Frostbite(15% chance to freeze the target with all chilling effects. 15x5= 75% to freeze target with every frostbolt round.) Frost warding(50% more armor with ice or frost armor. Awesome for survivability) Water elemental x 5. Winters chill, 1 frostbolt round and 10% more chance to crit on the target. Shatter, which means if you want to AoE grind you can quite easily. Considering blizzard could be specced to have a chilling effect and once again, every time blizzard hits it would have a 75% chance per target to freeze them again.. The more I talk the more I want 5 frost mages . Now solo leveling, I would have to say fire.. Penta leveling, all frost  .

Once again I am not nearly a pro at this kind of stuff. Chances are someone will find tons of flaws in my logic. If you do please do not flame me, simply give your reasons.

Heres the Frost 10-60 spec I made. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oZZAcbckfuhfdg0ox\

Thanks, that's made my mind up

The only time I can see 5xFire Mages being of big use is for BIG bosses, 5 PoM Pyro's would make a nice mess, but I am going to go with the frost.
More control, more mana efficient and from what I hear, blizzard is a BEAST of a spell since the latest patch.

    Thanks

how is 5 [s]mages[/s] fireballs a waste, when, if after the first fireball round the mob is dead? same thing happens when you do five frostbolts. you run to the next mob and bam, your mana is restored. its not like you're using one mage and mana consumption is an issue. you're using five. yes, theoretically what you're doing is overkill. but in practice, it amounts to just the same. so with that said, i'd go... frost. why? frostbolts cast faster.

Focus on skills that don't depend on mouse movement. I'd go more for talents that improve arcane explosion, frostfire, scorch, blast wave, dragon's breath, living bomb over anything that's blizzard-based. Cone of Cold *could* be used to some degree, but I'm going arcane/fire with something like this:
    http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...00000000000000
    5x arcane explosions..
    5x living bombs..
    5x pyroblasts..
    5x blast waves..

Although.. PoM may be too fun to pass up.. the damage from arcane/fire for AoE and single target , without the need for mouse involvement/targeting is looking quite nice.

    Currently playing:
    Akama [Empire of Orlando]
    Zandantilus - 85 Shaman, Teebow - 85 Paladin, Kodex - 85 Rogue.

Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

I have 3 lvl 80 mages. If you are just going to focus on pvp I would spec arcane and use a cast sequence that spams all instant cast spells. If you plan on pve/pvp I would spec frost. While frost fire bolt spec & arcane does great raid damage you need to watch for procs and cast a bunch of different spells. With frost all you have to do is spam frostbolt.

Here is my spec: Frost 80 http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0qcz0cZZAIcckfu0czgbsx

With focus magic it gives all my guys extra crit because they cast it on each other. Torment the weak is great because frostbolts have a snare which increases your damage. Fingers of frost is amazing for critting with shatter. When its up you have a 50% chance to crit just from the talents. One point in improve blizzard allows your blizzard to proc fingers of frost and torment the weak. So if you aoe with blizzard it hurts. I really want to figure a way to aoe with blizzards. I think it will own heroic trash if I can figure out a good way to do it. For boss fights I pop elementals + mirror image and spam away with frostbolt. When the elementals die I use cold snap and do it again. With my crappy gear mages I can do 2k dps on the heroic boss dummy. I expect that to go up once I get them some decent gear. They have mostly quest blues and 70 pvp gear right now.

Ice barrier has saved their asses many of times. Mana never seems to be an issue either. I can spam away a long time.
