Default start with a flame shock

I have found a way to always start with a flame shock and use a /castrandom

    /cast [target=focus-target,mod] [target=focus-target,nocombat] Flame Shock
/castrandom [target=focus-target] Flame Shock, Lava Burst, lightning bolt

this casts flame shock whenever I use a modifier like the ALT key or whenever I"m out of combat and starting a new fight.

Anyone else tried this? It looks good.

The macro looks functional to me, but I would recommend against using FS to enter combat (the alt modifier looks great btw)

If you are solo, and it takes a mob 3 seconds to run to you, would you rather:
Flameshock, GCD, Cast LvB, get hit OR Cast Lightningbolt, Flameshock, GCD, Cast LvB?

In the later example, the target is taking the additional damage of the LB during the same duration of the FS LvB rotation. This is why a firemage charges up a Pyroblast while ooc, to front load the damge.

I never solo with my shaman so FS is idea for me. 4 on a target before it gets to me and I don't generate a ton of threat before my tank goes to work :/

    You could also try

    /castsequence reset=target Flame Shock,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castrandom Flame Shock, Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, Purge

..this way it'll also try and drop an FS on your new targets after the first falls without needing to hold down a modifier key.

(Yep, I sneaked a quick Purge in there too.. I do so love debuffing targets)

I've said it on other posts. /click changed my boxing with a HUGE increase to my dps. Very very far from cs, cr and so close to manual.

Only issue I would have with it is that I need to now pay attention to whether FS is still active on the target and needs to be re-applied. When running a team of 5, I don't have time to sit there and watch that, so I keep FS as part of the regular rotation so I don't have to think about it.

However, it totally depends on how you play which dictates the best method for each person. If you're running a team of 5 x shaman, then that would probably work just fine as they will all be using the same rotation. In my group structure, there's too much to micro-manage as it is that I don't want to add even more. That's just a self-imposed complication, on my part.

Though, your use of the "nocombat" flag has given me some ideas to improve my warlock rotation. Thanks! :P
