    Default Can this be done?

As some of you may know but im leveling 1x Holy priest and 4x Warlocks.

Does anyone know if having a holy pally with tank gear good enough to be a tank.

Reason why I ask is that my main I raid with with a holy healing pally, but im getting some epic tanking pally gear from karazhan and can use the chest from aldor rep.

Will this be enough for tanking as a holy spec pally?

Depends what you are tanking... my suspicion is that anything worth tanking, you won't be able to tank.

You should be able to farm enough to cover the costs of respeccing every time you need to.

This is pretty much true. There's some talents in the Prot tree that will allow you to mitigate the damage you would take from worthwhile Bosses.

Holy Shield, Imp Righteous Fury, Redoubt, Toughness, Anticipation are just a few talents Tankadins need to help mitigate damage and generate Hate.

That Epic tank gear may provide some good defense, but without Holy Shield, you'll remain very crushable by decent Boss's.

Yea, that's some of the must-have talents and there are certainly more.

Just to be a bit more clear: there's a few key defense milestones you need with a paladin to make them tank-friendly.. getting uncrushable and uncrittable are both big for real tanking. Without going deep into the protection tree, you don't have much of a chance at either.

So you'll be able to tank stuff where your group can survive both crits and crushing blows... which may be content you don't really want to tank, anyway.

While this won't be a complete answer, I would suggest you will be fine generally with any of the three main tanks (feral druid/warrior/pally). The trick is what group setup you need to make them effective for what you're trying to do. If you have tons of healing available, druids are highly effective for lots of things. If your healing is mediocre, warriors offer the highest damage mitigation and the prevention of the double-crit. If you want to do AoE farming, the paladin has the easiest time keeping lots of mobs focused on him (through consecrate).

So, really, your question is a mite general for the specific answers you're looking for.

Several raiding guilds are now using paladins for main tanks in Black Temple, so to say that warriors are the only thing worth using on anything worth tanking is obviously mistaken.

It is, however, well known that tanking gear is much better itemized for warriors versus paladins early on.
