Still deciding on Software

I got the 2nd monitor. Still waiting for the box. Been trying stuff on the laptop. The whole Tour Guide suite is going in. Jamba is in for sure.

Now I need a multiplexing program and the screen controller. I see KeyClone w/Maximiser is one way to go. Is that the best way to start out? Downsides?

I'm new to multiboxing but I choose Keyclone because it's very easy to set up (maximiser is included). Some of the other software are a little more intensive. I only Box on a single PC with 5 instances and it runs sweet but I cant talk about a hardware set-up because I dont have one.

Simple setup and go and easy GUI interface and great support.

A frequently overlooked alternative to Keyclone is Octopus. I've tried both and preferred Octopus.

Well my personal favourite is HotKeyNet as it is quite powerful, has all features needed and is free in its beta.
Onlything you have to do is customizing the standard scripts a littlebit and your good to go (a gide is in my Sig or on the HKN-Website).

But there are several other options, which all have their benefits/customer-group:

HotKeyNet (script based, at teh moment free)
Keyclone (GUI based, costs: 20 Bugs (onetime) )
Octopus (GUI Based, free)
InnerSpace (Scriptbased (a gui is in development, i think), Monthly fee)
AutoHotKey + Maximizer (scriptbased and free)

..this are the ones which come in mind to do the job... (sry, if i missed some..)

As far as I know the old versions are still free of any charge but the newest has to be paid once like keyclone.

I agree there, Octopus might be great, but it appears support has been dropped.

I'd vote for Keyclone, mainly because it's very easy to set up, and seems to have the best support.
20 bucks isn't all that much, considering 5x wow subscriptions are 75/month already.

Ultimately, a lot of people have good experiences with each of they software options out there.
If you're into boxing, pick one and try it out, change to a new one if its not working for you.

For someone who is just starting up, I'd recommend Keyclone(20 dollar one time fee). Innerspace(10 dollar for 3 month minimum subscription) is also worth checking out because of the Innerspace Boxer Toolkit.

On topic:

Keyclone is GREAT for the new user. IS is GREAT as well for someone who is code oriented / not scared to dive into an XML or Config file. The ISToolBox is GREAT, the last beta I saw was 4, aside from it's tree view not being too clear on how to navigate, I was able to set up a system from IS install to logging in and boxing in 10 minutes Lax has stated there is still more work to be done so I'm sure he'll get it where it is just as easy as anything else . Support for BOTH programs is absolutely outstanding. Keyclone answers PMs / IMs / Phone calls fast as hell. Lax is almost *always* in #isboxer on lavishsoft's IRC server. Both devs are amazing at supporting noobs as well. So there's no elitest attitude, just ask questions and get support.

Multiboxers are a different crowd than the typical WoWers. Personally, one of the things I enjoy most about MB is the puzzle aspect. That includes figuring out how to move your toons to defeat some PvE content, what strategy to use in PvP, and just as fun is the scripting for macros and key broadcasting.

If you really don't like doing regular WoW macros, then don't bother with HKN. If you can understand basic WoW macros, then honestly HKN is just as easy to decipher and you get a ton of control. Start out slow and build as you learn more about what you would like to accomplish with multiboxing and what multiple toons are capable of.

You'll start out with basic keysends like "hit key f, send 'f' to all windows" and eventually it will become "depending on who the main is if 'f' is pushed then send 'ctrl-shift-U' in a round robin fashion between multiple WoW windows." The ability to increase your control and power over key broadcasting as you get more comfortable with multiboxing is a very nice and fun feature.

Also, Freddie (creator of HKN) is very responsive and helpful. Olipics (user) is also constantly helping new users and suggesting new, powerful way to control multiple toons using HKN.
