Does everyone have trouble deciding on teams for 5-boxing? At first I wanted to 5-box an all warlock team, but then I realized I need a healer, so it became 4x warlocks and one priest. Then I said screw that and decided on 1x paladin, 3x warlocks, 1x priest but now I'm second guessing that. What would be easiest to learn on in your opinion? I may just stick with 5x paladins (1x prot for tanking, 4x ret.)

Deciding on your team is one of the toughest decisions you can make. It really depends on what your goals are for the team, too. If you want a PVE team, the typical group would have a paladin tank, a healer (strongly recommend priest due to the AOR healing strength of glyphed holy nova) and 3 DPS. If you are scared to make the mixed DPS different classes, it's not THAT hard to macro different classes up. I mean as a simple example, a warlock could cast shadowbolt when the shaman casts lightning bolt. But this community always strongly recommends shaman teams when you're in doubt, since they can all heal DPS and take more beating on than a normal caster.

I am sure a lot of people do, especially now with WoTLK.

I think I have more regret though . The grass is always greener on the other side, right?!??!! Hindsight is 20/20?? You know how it is.

I have a mixed PVE team and I often wonder if I should have picked a hunter and/or a warlock instead of my shaman/mage/boomkin. However, I have a feeling that there will always be advantages/disadvantages to any class setup. IMO no class is that bad atm, at least for PVE..no clue about PVP.

I decided that at some point if I still have the desire I will just boost up a hunter and warlock to sub in...or just RAF a couple of new accounts or both. Then that gets you thinking about 10-boxing..AAAAAEEEIEII does it ever end!!?!?!!?? I think not.

imo diversity is good, after a while you get bored with your team and its fun to go off and do stuff solo, and the more classes you can play with the funner the game is. I break the game down into 5 different "meta-classes":

    tank
    healer
ranged DPS (just hunter really, playstyle is quite different)
    melee DPS
    caster DPS

while there are significant differences between say a warrior tank and a druid tank, end of the day the playstyle is 90% similar. Just like holy priest, resto shaman, or resto druid. So if you can make a group that covers all 5 of these "meta-classes" you can enjoy the game much more when you are bored of multiboxing. Then it just becomes a matter of personal preference; some will like a Deathknight tank over a paladin tank, others will love a druid tank. Similar for warlock vs mage vs ele shaman vs boomkin, etc, etc.

Hybrids are great due to overlap -- a druid can be a healer, tank, or caster DPS; a paladin can be a tank, healer, or melee DPS, shaman can be healer, melee DPS, or caster DPS.

If you just want the "easiest" team, its definitely 1 tank (paladin) + 4 shamans (elemental or 3 elemental + 1 resto).

This is the easiest least-maintenance team you can roll.

It wasn't tough for me to decide on a team at all, I've been shamans since the beginning and after trying a couple other teams have no desire to run anything but shamans (plus my DK tank).

Being new and still RAFing, I've not had to think about mixed teams for the most part. I have already got my shaman team to 60 and am
now working on a 5xWarlock team, they are at 32 now, demon spec'd and all using voidwalkers. I could mix the pets for more dps, but the
tanks are nice. What made you need to add a priest? I can imagine that one would be needed for PvP, but for PvE, nothing gets near me.

Point to multiboxing be ready to make lots of 5 man teams lol. I mad an all druid all lock all dk all shammy team to get started. Now i roll a 4 dk 1 pally team and i will be making other 5 man team combos from the rest. Its just fun to level all one class set macros once and forget then when its time to make mixed teams you know how to play each class to an ok ability and can mix and match for best results.

Im building my 3rd team or more like my second. Started with the 1 priest and 4 mages. Very effective group but cant hack it in later dungens. So I took out a mage and put in a paladin. This changed the dynamics so much that I didnt like it. Right now im building a paladin and 4 druid group and so far it looks to be unstoppable except for nature immune mobs.

    Yes.

My first ever post on the forums involved pally tank, 2x lock, 1x mage, and healing priest. Definitely don't have that group anymore.

Take a look at my sig and you'll see that instead of just settling on one group, I decided to just make as many groups as I found interesting.

I've figured out what I'm going to start first. I'm only getting the team to 60 as fast as I can so that I can get as many teams to 60 before my RAF runs out. I'm going to try for a one weekend 1-60 for each team. But first team will be 1 pally, 3 mages and 1 priest.
