Just before ordering, thought I'd double check that there are no known issues running 2 x 24" monitors (1920x1200) off a single 4870 to drive 5 WoW clients?

I have no personal experience with that setup, but I have no reason to doubt that it'll work fine. Just make sure you have enough power supply. That's an awesome video card, but I've heard that it takes a fair bit of power and good case cooling.
I don't know if this helps but I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ and I run 5 clients on a 22" and a 19" with no problems as long as the 4 background clients are set at 20 FPS or below, and I get 60 FPS on my main at 1440 x 900.
I am using a 4870 1gb for a 2 monitor setup. One full screen and the other 4 smaller thumbnails on the other monitor (IS windowsnapper). I use a lower resolution than you are planning. I don't see the GPU power usage go over 50% in the Ati control panel. Video card core temp is not an issue either.
Hmm get something nvidiaish, boo at ati imo, bad drivers
You're ok with ATI-ish cards. Those nVidia drivers are bad imo.
I have been a Diamond/Nvidia person for years. When I purchased my ATI card last month it was a close call. I looked at a lot of benchmarks and read a lot of reviews. I like where ATI is going with card design. Not a dig on Nvidia at all, I am a fan of both Mfg's.Originally Posted by 'Los',index.php?page=Thread&postID=170587#post1705 87
Edit: I have no problems with my 4870 1gb with regards to drivers. Seems as stable as my 8800gt.
Usually I pick the one that fits the budget i set out for myself, but I had a few bad run ins with ati and its crappy drivers, therefor i advise you all to stay clear from them!![]()
ATI seems to have overcome their driver issues some time ago. I don't buy based on who made the GPU, I buy based on performance and price, so I've owned a mix of NVIDIA and ATI cards at various times. You probably won't go wrong with either brand these days. Both the 4870 cards from ATI and the 260/280 cards from NVIDIA should do what the OP needs.

Agreed. Get the best bang for the buck. Note that while most manufacturers use ATI or nVidia reference designs, they may not use the same quality parts or manufacturing process.Originally Posted by 'Tonuss',index.php?page=Thread&postID=171082#post1 71082
