    Default A "Turbo" button

    Gidday guys,

Long time lurker. Just a quick mad props to the community and admins, the environment you have created here is both accomodating to the new comer and vastly knowledgable to anyone searching for intricacies that are custom-made for them and them alone. I salute you all.

And onwards to my question. With WotLK skill rotations being finalised and castsequence macros being created surrounding the usage of 1 or 2 buttons being spammed as much as possible, is there a macro/script/keyboard with the ability to hold down a button (e.g "B") and have that button spammed at 20-30 Hz.

I know the Logitech G15 has options upon holding down a keystroke that mimmick this function but I understand a user recently had problems with Blizzard over the usage of this piece of hardware. I was wondering if their were any options that would be considered legal.

I think the future utilization of such a program would enable the more "skill" based specs based on RNG circumstances (Killing Spree - Fire Mage, and Lock 'n' Load - Survival Hunter) to become more viable to multiboxed stricky PvE wise. Also this will increase our dps regardless of spec, as multiboxers we tend not to reap the full benfits of certain stats such as haste due to a single toon lagging a quater second behind due to 3-6Hz button smashing.

Please feel free to shoot this down immediately if it is considered illegal or if any of Blizzards in-built protectors prevent anything similar to this, I was merely looking for advice before i make a finacial investment into any software/hardware required.

    Thanks in advance

Using software to "Hold Down a button and spam it" would be viewed as automation by blizzard and is banable.
Only legal way for you to do it is to make a /cast macro and hit is as fast as you can.
As for issues with the g15 Its not the keyboard its self that people were banned for but what they were doing with the macro function, 1 button grinding and so on.
Im sure someone else can shead some more light on this But in general using somthing to spam a button for you is illegal.

Thank you for a swift reply Akeldema,

Whilst i realise that anything automated is considered illegal, the functionality of what I'm saying requires someone holding down a key to generate multiple keystrokes, not a "push once and leave whilst the key spams away" action. One could argue that we are already pushing 1 button for 5 keystrokes =).

Would love to hear more input from anyone regarding this.

Because your still getting software/hardware to sent multiple keypresses to the same instance with a single press from you its still illegal in blizzards view.
This is directly out of the wiki "
    • "Think of a single key-press as a lever. You pull the lever, and something happens.
Think of multi-boxing as simply attaching 5 levers to a single handle. You're still only pulling one lever, it just affects more than one something.

Now, think of automation as a lever attached to a set of gears and pulleys. You pull the lever, and a whole slew of bits and bobs start working, gears whirring, pulleys spinning. You might pull a lever, but it sets a process in motion that would be impossible with an ordinary pull of the lever if those gears and pulleys were not in place. Automation can apply to a single character just as much as it could with multiple characters.
The point is that the 'something' that occurs spools out without direct human involvement aside from the initial pull of the lever. That is automation. Even if it's only a single extra step.
In multi-boxing, every action taken by those characters has its source in a human command. Each individual action. Thus, it is not automation."
Important bit is "Each individual action."
By getting it to send multiple key presses to a single client from One keypres of yours is against the ToS in blizzards eyes

    Thanks Akeldema for your clarification,

Guess I'm investing in a new keyboard cushion to avoid carpal tunnel instead.

    Thanks again mate

This has been brought up on the Blizz forums before. It was asked if using the n52 function that allows the key to be held down and a keypress signal to be sent rapidly, i think the max is about 100 times per second using the n52 software, was legit. A blue answered that Blizz considered it automation. 1 keypress=1 action per wow. Meaning 1 down/up with you finger=1 signal sent.
