Default A little help please with a new computer

    Hey folks,

I'm thinking that it might be time to get a desktop and relegate my laptop back to being my work computer (I own my own business).

I'm not a total technotard but I freely admit that I'm not as knowldegeable as many people here.

While I am a multi-boxer I'm really only a dual boxer, aside from that I don't really do much on the computer.

    I was looking at these:

Any thoughts? I have a friend that's pretty geeky who has a real hate on for AMD but I'm not sure how valid it is.

I'm also aware that these don't come with an operating system and that's fine, easy to take care of.

    Thanks.

    For multiboxing:

    1. Lot of memory (4gb for 2-3 boxing, 8gb for 4-5 boxing recommended, you can live with less)
    2. dual core cpu for 2-3 boxing, quad core for 4-5 boxing - i'd not touch amd for gaming since the core2 platform came along. it is faster on everything.
    3. graphics card - a single core card will do you fine here, depending on what detail level and frame rate you expect. you can 2-3 box fine on a budget card, limited fps ofcourse. personally i run a single 4870 5-boxing and have 4x15 + 60fps most of the time

i'd not buy some budget thing off ebay, but that's just me. i rather fling up a few extra bucks and get some personal service at a store. changing from webshops/ebay to visiting a store has made me a happier customer. once you become a return-customer you'll get discounts in most shops just find some you calk to about casual stuff as well when in the store.

I run 3 of my toons on a far crappier system. I have all my settings turned down though too.

the second more expensive model doesn't have a video card. it only has the on-board or motherboard video.

I have found that motherboard video is almost always really crappy and probably will barely be able to run one copy of wow.
I would go with the one that had a real video card in it even if it's a slightly old video card.
