hmm a game similar to uo...

bout 4 years too late imo
how are they going to support this game if it becomes popular, if they only have a small dev team?
and unless you have a super maxxed out system and are living in the server warehouse your lag will suck.. and pvp will be a non event..
    im from australia.. btw

Ultima Online had near unlimited PVP and the first thing I learned about it was that the life expectancy of a newb outside the town guards protection was nearly 5 seconds.
    Best game ever.

Never once heard of this game before today, but honestly. If you are going to develop a game for 7 years, why not try to upgrade the graphics engine at some point. Things change a lot in 7 years. A lot.

It's just butt ugly. Graphics don't make the game, but .. well they do make a difference. I'll have to go read up on what the games supposed to play like to make any intelligible comments.. but suffice to say, the eye candy is nill.

The graphics engine was scrapped once during development in order to go with 3d. I wish they'd have stayed with 2d Ultima Online style tbqh. Also, the game wasn't being developed during all of those 7 years. What is now called Darkfall has been worked on for maybe 2 years. The original Darkfall 2d version was maybe developed for the first 2 years or less, then the game was in limbo for about 4 years, hence why people refer to the game as "vaporware" most of the time Then, someone stepped in and funded the game to be done in 3d, which now looks like a butt ugly warhammer, and since they just wanted to make money off of the hype that was to be Darkfall we have this horrible version and the original idea given to us by the original developers is gone forever.

My problem with UO PvP was that it was weighted heavily in the "red's" favor. Most people who didn't PvP primarily ventured out in their trusty gear, silver Long Sword of strength and all, with a full pouch of reagents and a key to their house (back when keys were lootable).

Meanwhile the PvP'ers ran around either naked or in ghost robes with a handful of reagents, just enough to Corp Por, Corp Por, Corp Por a hapless bluebie wandering off on his or her own. Also, since it was not a grouping type of adventure MMORPG, it meant that most folks were solo, even if there were 5 or 6 people in the area. This allowed the reds to coordinate strategy and nuke the crap out of the bluebies before they could react.

Granted, this assessment comes from someone who sucks at PvP, so I am biased. Still, I usually got back at those folks by finding their house and then marking the spot and I'd go back there later and do the home hack bug and loot the shit out of them.

I took a look at this game, but full time PVP will keep me away from it. Trying to roleplay in a full time PVP world is like living in a community of psychopaths with no government. Ok, I suppose, if you too are a psychopath.
