Default Restarting on a new server, pondering which classes to use this time.

I had 5 shamans up to mid 60s, was running low on money and had to cancel 3 accounts. Well, im ready to play again but I had transferred my mains to a different server for free because the 1 hour long wait every single day to get in was getting really old.

No free transfers anymore to my new server so it looks like I am starting over, and with no RAF bonus this time.

I liked my shamans ok, but I never felt really at home with them like I did my original main, which was a warlock. I have played all the classes to some extent, but Pally and Lock are the only ones I have reached the level limit with.

I did try out 5 Hunters and i loved their dps, and especially the way you could activate a ability, and when they got within range they would autoattack all by themselves, but I hated it when one of them died.

I was thinking of doing 5 hunters again, but going with 5x engineering for the jumper cables. Then I thought that maybe I would just swap out one of them for a healer, 4x hunter and 1x healer, but what happens if the healer dies?

Well, then I figured I could go with a 5x warlocks. I have always loved the felguard with their intercept and cleave, and the massive amounts of dmg they put out, plus lock dots. Now with lvl 80 being the limit, I don't have to sacrifice as much out of the other two trees to get my felguard. Plus locks can self rezz and I can go engineering to shock them back to life.

Then I thought, maybe I should swap out a lock for a healer. Pally gives me auras and wisdom or kings. But shaman has chain heal, perfect for chain healing all of the felguards, or all of the locks, since they will generally be grouped together. Priest has stamina buffs. So many choices. I already have a high lvl pally and lock on two different accounts.

So maybe I should go with 4 locks and a shaman? I can always go 5 locks or 4 locks and a pally if I go that route.

Decisions decisions... I am working two jobs and don't have tons of time to play wow, so I want to make sure I go with something that will be rewarding. Would hate to start over yet again with no raf bonus. Within a week or so I will get scroll of resurection available to activate my other 3 accounts, I plan on starting up again. I am getting all my software and hardware in order so I don't have to waste tons of time later once I get them activated.

Why not 4 locks and a shadow priest? good synergy, you can keep soulstone up on the priest, and rez when needed. You could use your existing lock to boost the other 4 and speed up the process. A shammy would be good, with flametongue totem or totem of wrath. you could also go with a healer, tank and 3 dps. or you could just boost 4 dps with your pally.

figure out what you want to do first, it hugely influences what classes to pick. world pvp, arena, battlegrounds, regular instances, heroics, raiding, farming gold, dailies, questing, ?

for example I multibox to run heroics solo and to gear up 1-2 of my chars so they can raid. so i have a tank (paladin, but DK works great too), a healer (resto shaman, priest or druid are also fantastic), a mage (porting/food/dps), and 2 ele shamans (totems, lust, heal if needed). i do a little bit of everything in wow, but my team is heavily geared towards running heroics.

if I wanted to mostly do world pvp or dailies or farm gold I'd pick 5x hunters or 5x boomkins, they work out great. no clue for arena, it feels very multiboxer unfriendly atm with the burst damage of melee.

Warlocks are great for boxing if you don't mind managing shards. I would strongly recommend doing some sort of mixed team, too, no matter what you plan to do with them. It's not hard to make them work the same as you're used to, and with buffs not stacking these days, you'll be more powerful. You just make castsequences so they are each doing similar things. So like if you had the warlock doing a shadowbolt, the priest might do a mind blast.

By the way, do you know what server you're going to roll on?

I tried this and found it underwhelming. With the nerf to spriest/lock synergy, and the fact that locks really don't NEED replenishment (lifetap/dark pact), it's pretty "meh" compared to 1 CoH holy priest and 4 locks. Bind CoH to lifetap, imho. For leveling, I went with CoH and then down to the Spirit buff since locks now have synergy with spirit through fel armor.

Shard management is really not too bad -- keep 2-3 shards in your normal bags, and if you need to use one, just grab one off the next mob. The only time you'll run out of shards is massive summoning or if your pets are just faceplanting (i.e. losing at PvP over, and over, and over).

I found the most effective spec for me was aff until I could get a felguard, then head for felguard/siphon life and do a sort of "aoe grinding" by SL tapping every mob in sight and letting the felguards cleave them all to death. It also helped in PvP combat since you could get Soul Link + Siphon Life. In PvP, even if your priest dies, you should always have a soulstone (and many more on backup) to pop that little priesty right back up -- and dots will keep ticking even if you lose a warlock or two. You'll almost never get a total wipe... I think the hardest "wipe" I've had was two DK's with the ghoul-on-death talent that would keep me in combat to prevent me from drinking while the other one graveyard zerged... You have to re-start DoTs on the ghoul each time and eventually the priest oomed and couldn't heal anymore.

Haven't played my warlock 2 spriest group since before they changed the talents around, so didn't know they screwed up the synergy.
